Born on the fourteenth of January, nineteen twenty-four,
The zodiac says he's Capricorn by birth, and destined for more.
He was a Friday's child, both loving and giving,
His parents were proud of their son, and his living.
Joseph Armand Catalano, was his given name,
The Bronx of New York, from whence he came.
He was as they say, by blood, full Italian,
Yet he grew up, the guy next door, an all American.
He liked to swim and dive, in the academy pool.
An educated soul, graduated military school.
The mental challenge of chess, was fun and immense,
As the love of his father, who taught him to fence.
Wide breadth of shoulders, narrow of hip,
He had an athletes physique, without any quip.
As a young man, he was tall, fair of face,
He grew up to be a man, of elegance and grace.
Working as a model, in the agency shows,
Finding true love and family, like no one knows.
He set his sites, for the adventures of Hollywood,
Like many young actors, he dreamed of making it good.
Changing his name, so we could remember, and easily say;
I don't understand, why he needed a new identity anyway!
Oh why did they change that wonderful name,
Guy Williams, clear and simple, he later became.
He made a few movies, some good and some bad,
Didn't they realize, what an incredible actor they had?
He was the sidekick to a monkey, yet he kept pride in himself,
As a cop, he defeated the evil werewolf, a silver bullet it felt.
Discovered by Walt Disney and Norm Foster, early one spring,
Soon Guy would become Zorro, the legend, the king.
By day Don Diego, the man of letters and books,
By night he was Zorro, defending the poor, against evil and crooks.
As black as the night, Zorro and Tornado made an envious team,
Yet on occasion, the Phantom of white, glowed in the moons eerie beam.
Children shouted his name, "Zorro", as play swords went swoosh, swoosh!
Pretending the bad guys, there often, were hiding behind yonder bush.
Next was Bonanza and the Ponderosa Ranch,
As Cousin Will, he hoped the family would branch.
He rode with his new family, Adam, Little Jo and Hoss,
But everyone knew Pa, Ben Cartwright, was the real boss.
As Prof. John Robinson, he traveled the stars,
With family along, possibly making a home on Mars.
The show, Lost in Space, was the newest gimmick,
Later, he became a man, of the outer limits.
Family Feud and Password, were very timely,
He played right along, with his television family.
Shows like this, kept him in the publics eye,
What a waste of this mans talents; you wanted to cry.
Discouraged with the life, lead by the actors guild,
Off to Buenos Aires he went, where he would heal and rebuild.
The Argentine people, openly loved this legend, this man,
Something the US, at the time, was unable to give, with open hand.
Guy felt alone, towards the end of his life, here in earth,
He felt abandoned by America, his home, the place of his birth.
His sorrow was, to not truly know, he was loved world-wide,
Now as an angel, he watches over us, with all knowing pride.
Fans remain faithful to this man, of which Guy was his name,
They are even trying for a star, on Hollywood's Walk of Fame.
The legend he left behind, Zorro the greatest by far,
To his fans he will always be, one of our greatest stars.
