Young. Talented. Electrifying. How else can you describe the world's newest hip hop group?

The Vizion Performance Team, founded in 2001 at Washington, DC's prestigious Howard University, brings together a diverse group of dancers to captivate audiences with fresh, precise, and energetic hip hop choreography. Under the direction of Portland, Oregon native Mario Odighizuwa, Vizion (as it is informally known) has performed in numerous events in the DC Metro area and has established a successful and independent workshop program for high school students.

Members hail from New York to California and everywhere in between. Some are formally trained dancers, while others are new to the studio and stage. All members of Vizion, however, share a love of hip hop and performance, creating a synergy that has steadily earned recognition and accolades for the group.

Vizion has performed at the DC Stepfest, the Spring Black Arts Festival, and at Howard University basketball games. The group took home the first place prize at Howard University's Homecoming Apollo Show. As Vizion has grown, so has its number of performance opportunities. Most recently, Vizion placed third in the First Annual Bustagroove East Coast Dance Competition.

The Vizion Performance Team isn't only about performing. Vizion is deeply committed to community involvement. The Vizionaires Workshop Program, established in 2003, provides hip hop dance instruction as well as an educational, college-prepatory cirriculum for high school students in DC communities. In 2004, Vizion launched the Vizionaires Literacy Program, a cooperative project between the Vizion Performance Team and a DC-area elementary school, aimed to encourage school-aged children become more involved in reading.
