Moka Only Bio

Quick Facts

The Story

Moka Only was born and raised in Langford, B.C. Moka began his future career as a teenager. He would freestyle with Prevail at parties and on street corners.

Moka Only and Prevail released an album in 1992 titled "Delve into my Realm", under the name of Splitsphere. Two years after the CD was released, the two of them moved down to San Diego, where they began to make names for themselves. A number of bigger underground names found that both had talent, and befriended them. In the future, they collaborated with names such as Tony da Skitzo and Mr Brady, whom they met while they were in San Diego.

In 1995, both moved back up to Vancouver. While there, they formed Swollen Members with Madchild. However, Moka Only chose to go his own way and remain a solo MC. Moka would rejoin the group in 2002.

Since he appeared on the hip hop scene, Moka has put out over twelve full-length albums, but only attracted a widespread audience through a collaboration with Len and after he released his official debut album. The collaboration with Len, appearing on Len's album, "You Can't Stop the Bum Rush", allowed him to appear on Much Music via three of their videos, which were on rotation at the station. His official debut, "Lime Green", was released on Battleaxe, which he helped found.

Moka is a member of City Planners, Cryptic Souls Crew, Codename: Scorpion, Perfect Strangers, Nowfolk and Dominant Mammals. Moka is a talented MC, singer, piano player, trumpet player, producer and graffiti artist.
