SicksentZ

Recent News

I was visiting NYC from Jersey last October, and decided to go to a local open mic hip-hop competition in Manhattan. The show was decent at best, and I had contemplated leaving soon. But while I was talking to a dude in the crowd, the next emcee, SicksentZ, came on stage to do his set. The first song was like a kick to the face. A pure energy battle verse that grabbed your attention the second the beat dropped. The next two songs were deep concept songs about hip-hops status in music, and how creativity was lacking. He closed with my favorite song of the night called “Day of Infamy”, which was dedicated to the attacks of September 11th. I had heard tracks about the attacks before, but this one was different. It took a more personal approach. The crowd went crazy after he closed, and I decided to try to learn more about his songs. I saw him a while later in the crowd and I asked if he was performing again anytime soon. He hit me up with his e-mail, and told me about a gig he had lined up in Soho a few weeks later. I attended that set as well, and watched him perform “Day of Infamy” again as well as 4 new songs I hadn’t heard. Once again he ripped it. So I decided to look out for any other performances. I’ve seen him 3 times since, and I’m impressed every time. Recently I contacted his E-Mail and told him I wanted to do a fan site. He said he has no problem with it and currently he’s converting tracks into an mp3 format so I can put them on the site. He is also re-recording “Day of Infamy”, and another track about losing contact with his real father. In addition, he also produces tracks for other emcees, and some of his own songs. I’m looking forward to hearing his beats. Look out for the music soon, I’ll keep everyone posted on any new joints, and performances he has in the future. I'm hoping he hits up the underground club scene real hard in the summer because I seea bright future from this 18 year old from the Bronx.
