Dear Reviewer,
“Writing becomes real when it has an audience.” Quoted by Tome Liner. That is how I feel; my work is life on paper. All of the events in my writing have been about my life in some way.
When I write, I use all mind and soul. Writing helps me get my point across, my emotions out, and it basically helps me live my life. My pieces are meant to live; I want my emotion to be felt and I wouldn’t mind if you share with me.
My mom is a powerful woman who impacts my life in a great manner. This why I wrote “My Mom.” This personal piece focuses on the love that my mom has for me. This piece was hard for me at first I couldn’t get the first sentence down; but when I finally got over the hump ideas were bouncing left and right. To me this is a never ending piece because there is always something new I can add to it.
Since, I am a writer that writes with pure emotion I know that literary pieces are stronger for me and they trigger me on to write. This is why I wrote two of them. My first poem is titled “Love.” This is more than a poem to me it is like love is talking to me and describing itself. This was a five-minute poem at first then I came across in my portfolio and fell in love with it and I knew it could be better and that is what did; I made it better. My next poem is labeled “Other.” This poem is a journey through my race as well as an introduction to myself. This piece was a requirement in class but I liked and put my own swing on it.
“When you use words, you’re able to keep your mind alive. Writing is my way of reaffirming my own existence.” Quoted by Gao Xingjian. This is the way I feel; every word that is written sparks life and the writer controls the flames. I wish the flames that my writing make are remembered.

I am not a game,
I am not just a name,
I am meant to be needed,
Not to be mistreated,
I AM LOVE!
