Born Alan Maman "The Alchemist" first started out in the music industry as a fourteen-year old rapper in the group the Whoolingaz who were signed to Tommy Boy Records. After Alchemist parted ways with his group he had then decided to turn his focus to producing. The money that Alchemist had made from his record deal he purchased an ASR 10 sampling keyboard. With the Whoolingaz behind him Alchemist then linked up with Cypress Hill’s DJ Muggs through some friends in the Los Angeles area. From the time they both met Muggs, and Al worked together hard on Cypress Hill albums. Till this day Alchemist is still a part of the Soul Assassins family, which is founded by DJ Muggs. Since moving from Los Angeles to Manhattan Alchemist has built a long list of production credits that include Ghostface Killah, Jadakiss, Mobb Deep, Tony Touch, Fat Joe, Cormega, and more. The more that people hear Alchemist beats his fan base increases along with his list of clientele. This coming year Alchemist will release his debut album, which will be a compilation that he will release on his own independent label. His compilation album will feature the likes of Big Daddy Kane, Mobb Deep, Infamous Mobb, Dilated Peoples, and Raekwon.
