| Eve |
Scorpion (16 Tracs/3 Shortz) |
|
1. Intro [:18] |
Y'all Ni@@as
think this is a fu*king Game? |
| 2. Cowboy [3:15]
|
A Swizz Beatz
production with a lite guitar sampled and cut in his usual style. By the
way Cowboy is not mentioned once in this whole song. |
| 3. Who's That
Girl [4:42] |
The first single
and video produce by Teflon. This Trac has an island feel with horns. Reminds
me of that joint from last year Eve's gotta man. |
| 4. Let Me Blow
Your Mind [3:49] f/ Gwen Stefani |
Produced by
Dr. Dre and Scott Storch enuff said. |
| 5. 3 Way [:41]
|
A bullshit azz
skit. |
| 6. You Had Me,
You Lost Me [4:21] |
Eve spits and
spits and spits, but ain't saying nuttin'. The hook is silly and brings
back memories of the nursery rhymes my little sister and her friends used
to kick. I won't even get into this Stevie J produce Trac. Why? Shit is
WacK!! |
| 7. Got What
You Need [3:52] f/ Dragon |
I got what you
need. Tell me what you need. That's how the hook starts and the trac only
gets worst from there. |
| 8. Frontin'
[:43] |
It's momma from
the Parkers, Mo' Nique clowning frontin' ni@@as. |
| 9. Gansta B*******
[4:24] f/ Da Brat & Trina |
Now the first
rule of a calabo is don't have someone come on your shit and outshine you.
Eve fails badly on this point barely out doing Trina. Da Brat is da shit
on this. |
| 10. That's What
It Is [3:40] f/ Styles Of The Lox |
Dr. Dre at his
best witha simple sample looped and accented. One of eve's better Tracs
and Styles adds that Lox touch. Strate Block Banger. |
| 11. Scream Double
R [3:41] f/ DMX |
Ruff Ryders'
commander in rhyme, DMX lends Eve some help on this trac, but not enuff
to make this trac more than average. |
| 12. Thug In
The Street [5:02] f/ The Lox & Drag-On |
There's this
button that Swizz Beatz just loves that I wish would phucking break already.
Luckily for him and Eve The Lox stopped by and blessed this trac. |
| 13. No, No,
No [5:37] f/ Damian & Stephen Marley |
Bob Marley's
son Stephen steps in and produces this trac as well as lends a little vocab
to this reaggae influenced mixx. Eve singing? She sounds a'ight doing it.
One of the best tracs on the cd. |
| 14. You Ain't
Gettin' None [4:11] |
Dame Grease
gets behind the mixer on this trac. Super smoothe hook. Eve is singing.
Damn shorty's voice is nice. The trac has Eve wanting to give up the azz,
but she wants to play it cool. Peep that skit on 8 and stop frontin'. |
| 15. Life is
So Hard [4:55] f/ Teena Marie |
Old Skool soultress
Teena Marie hooks Eve up with the background vocals and hook on this trac.
Eve letting us know it hard to be the illest pitnull in a skirt. |
| 16. Be Me [4:09]
f/ Mashonda Tifrere |
Sorry this is
one trac I doubt will ever find itself being played again after today. In
fact if I didn't have to write this review I would have ended this agony
by now. |
| Final Note: |
Scorpion is
a weak follow up to Eve's freshman effort. It could be that her heart wasn't
in it I don't know. But I do know from listening to this CD her pen wasn't
in it. Even a guest list of rap superstarz can't save this one from the
in and then out rotation. There will be no rewinding this one. |
