NDAMIXX: Test DaSkillz: Sega Dreamcast IF IT AIN'T NDAMIXX IT AIN'T SHIT! |

Well it is official now. Sega has decided to stop making consoles and to concentrate its efforts on software development fulltime. The nuz is not shocking as a rumor of Sega's Dreamcast demise has been swirling around faster than sonic spinning on a boot-cd. The rumor was so strong Sega sent out a press release contrary to the fact just days before making the rumor official nuz. ![]() Say it ain't so! Another 1500 plus dollars down the drain. That amounts to a base console, extra controllers, 25 plus games and a box full of other peripheral equipment. I don't work at Sega so I find it hard to understand how in less than 18 months the Sega Dreamcast went from must have piece of gaming future to what could of been If. The If being the one floating point equation no one at Sega could solve. I guess they weren't "Thinking" fast enuff to solve Sega's bottomline. And yes this decision is all about the bottomline. It appears Sega has been losing money faster than a drunk in a Las Vegas casino. The only fix for the negative cash flow leak was to shut down the Dreamcast pipeline, but with any nu product launch you lose money initially. R&D and marketing cost eat into the company revenues until you sell enuff units to recoup those initial cost and current per unit manufacturing cost. Some estimates put Sega's lost at over $200 per unit sold. And that's the bottomline. According to their press release Sega will focus on the more lucrative bizness of its Sega Net gaming network and future game development for all things, the PS2. Will other game developers still invest in Dreamcast games? I doubt it! Sega Underground Nuz Did you know that the Deamcast could play Video Discs? Yes movies on regular CD-Roms, also called VCDs. The movies can be found on any of the so called underground Sega sites. The movies require a boot-cd which can also be found at most of the underground sites. Some of the movies I have seen played on the "Dream Player" often stick on a section which can be upsetting if you are just getting to a good part and then ... nothing. The simple solution is to restart the movie and then FF past the sticky part. No! It's not DVD quality, but it works.
