| ODB Pleads for Reduced Sentence |
Baby Jesus Da Rap star Aka ODB pleaded guilty to drug charges in Queens State Supreme Court in exchange for a promised sentence of two-to-four years behind bars. ODB, whose real name is Russell Jones, was arrested in July 1999 when police found cocaine and marijuana in his car after pulling him over for running a red light.
In exchange for pleading guilty to criminal possession of a controlled substance, prosecutors agreed not to file bail-jumping charges against him for fleeing a court-ordered California drug treatment program last October while out on a Queens warrant. Formal sentencing is set for June 13.
Jones, 32, is a founding member of the popular Staten Island-based rap group the Wu-Tang Clan. Since 1987, he has been wounded in shootings and arrested on a veritable laundry-list of charges, including drug possession, menacing security officers, illegally possessing body armor, driving with a suspended license, shoplifting and threatening a former girlfriend.
