Mr. Romie AKA Lokey Web Page

My name is Romie Phelps, and I am a student at University of Houston. My major is Electrical Power Technology and I am working extremely to receive my degree. I am a very unique type of person. Because of my past I have been able to overcome difficulties in my life and excel with my potential. In my 24 years of living, I have learned a lot from pass experiences with life, working in school, and a little street life. I am on the path of being a very strong educated African American Black man, that’s working on making a change in our society.

I have been exposed to a lot of things in my younger days. I was forced to grow up a little faster than other teenagers my age, because my mother was a single parent. She worked very hard to take care of two boys (I’m the oldest), and keep us out of trouble. We are believers and followers of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He has worked my miracles in our life, showing love and favor to the ones who put their trust in Him. Even though I am a Christian, I am far from perfect. I do love the Lord, and pray He have mercy on me.

In my high school days I wanted to be a rapper. My family has always been into music, so I feel it’s only right for me to make my mark. Me and my best potna Cephuse used to freestyle everyday. We started free-styling on our answering machines for when people called our home phone lines. After a number of times getting in trouble with our parents from the language we used, we moved up to old broken radios that had the mic attached to it, placed it next to a boom box, played instrumentals, and free styled until we got tired. That was our hobby back in the days, we used to sell underground mix tapes to our friends that knew what we where doing to earn extra money. In the 10th grade Cephus got his first karaoke machine, that’s when we started rapping in our home garages making all kinds of noise unto the neighbors.

Unfortantaly, due to some drama in my high school years, I had to leave NorthShore High where all my friends were, and moved to the other side of town and attended Klein Forest. I never stopped free-styling, but my career in rapping was put on hold, because as I noticed everybody wants to be a rapper and a lot of people are not made to be one. Because of my involvement with the music industry I decided to just handle my business, School, and let God lead me to where He wants me to be.

On the other hand Cephus AKA C-No Brown, started to attend Howard University in Washington DC to father himself in his education and to pursue his music career there. With the networking possibilities he meets a fellow Houstonian Latief AKA Franchise Tieff. There they became friends also being talented with music. Latief has more of an R&B style to him, but also has nice flowing skills with a catchy voice to pick up listeners. The two formed the group H2, and on the rise to make history for the city of Houston.

With three albums in stores, and a handful of mix tapes floating around Houston and surrounding areas, H2 is bound to get recognized. I play a small part in these group activities, I work on promotion, and trying to get them more shows and radio play for them to receive that national expose.
