The purpose of the farm was to provide fresh fruits and vegetables for the kitchen and for any surplus to be sold for extra income for the various YWAM ministries. The farm was also being used to educate the local people on better soil management and crop husbandry.

These eggplants are being given shade by banana leaves.

Legumes, which help the soil by adding nitrogen to it. Farming on the slope by this stream is demonstrating "sloping agricultural land technology." This method can be used in farming hillsides while preventing soil erosion.
