"New Road Runner Patrol Shows Their Scouting
Spirit!"
by Joe Miguel (Road Runner ASM)
On March 20th, the Road Runner/Eagle Patrol went on a Manana
trail backpacking trip...it began on Saturday afternoon, and concluded Sunday
morning. The new scouts who participated were: Anthony K., Christopher T., Maxx
T., Tommy E., Robbie T., and Travis W. One member from Eagle Patrol
attended-Victor C! Congratulations Victor on your acceptance to the Naval
Academy. Leaders were myself, Loren Yasuda, Lori Y., Bob Boesch, Stephen Hong,
and Alvin Char. For our new boys, it was an adventure that they will never
forget-it was cold, wet, and windy-hopefully this trip was a learning
experience because some of them were not fully prepared. As I told the other
leaders, "this trip either discouraged them or toughened them up." I
hope they learned the significance of the scout motto, "Be Prepared."
There were fun moments too...some of our boys got spooked by Stephen Hong with
his ghost stories on Saturday night and were afraid to return to their tents
alone! On Saturday morning, we skipped breakfast, broke camp and started our
trek back down in the cold, wind rain and muddy trails. Stephen Hong did treat
us all to breakfast at McDonalds. We were all "LOVIN' IT!". Our new boys
got one under their belt. This was an adventure like no other!!!
