This is for counter-clockwise. For clockwise reverse left to right, etc.
Step One - Get in the turtle position, but with only your right elbow planted in your stomach and your left arm out to the side. Your legs should be spread as far as you can, but not so far as the splitz.
Step Two - Left your right leg up, and start to bring your left arm foward. At this point, you whould be lowering your head closer to the ground.
Step Three - Start to swing both your legs in a circular manner towards your left. Also, start to turn your body so it faces the left.
Step Four - You will now initiate your first kick. Kick your right leg in front of your body. This should bring you rolling on to your upper back. Smoothly bring in your right arm while doing this (the arm that was in your stomach), and push off with your hands.
Step Five - At this point you should be rolling on your upper back. If you are completely stopped, you're doing this incorrectly. Your right arm should be out, and your left arm should be neatly folded in. Both hands should be facing foward, ready to touch the ground.
Step Six - You are now ready to execute your second kick, and probably the most important. Now to pefrom this kick, kick your right leg up, and your left leg down. Also roll onto your side. As you roll onto your side, plant your hands on the ground.
Step Seven - The momentum from your last kick should bring your rolling the front of your body, with both hands planted on the ground. Both legs should still be spread. Basically, you are in the start position, only your legs shouldn't be touching the ground. Step Eight - Now, smoothly kick your legs in a circular manner so that you would land on your upper back again. Smoothly collapse your right arm, and push off with both hands. Repeat steps five through eight for as long as you can. Okay, that's about it. Remember, keep your legs spread, and keep them straight. It looks alot better that way. And when you kick your legs, don't actually kick them as if you were kicking someone. Try to swing them. Also, if you're doing your windmills in a line, you're doing them incorrectly. Do this entire thing in one flowing movement. So far, I haven't found any movies of windmills starting from the position I describe, but here are some movies: Here are some tips for doing windmills.
