Tough
Love
It’s out of love
The yelling, the screaming, the fighting
It’s all out of love
Why else would someone put themselves through that when they could just
simply
walk away?
Because of love
Because they know the fight is worth fighting
They know that when it is all over, they’ll just smile, and laugh, and
hug
That’s how it is when you love someone
You don’t just let them quit
Nobody gets along all the time
Everyone has problems, everyone yells
But when you let those problems overcome you
- when you don’t fight back -
That’s when the real struggle comes
Tough love,
Love is tough

It All Depends On How You
Think
If you think you are beaten - you are.
If you think you dare not - you don't.
If you want to win but think you can't,
Then it's almost certain you won't.
If you think you will lose, you've lost,
And out in the world you'll find,
That success begins with a will.
For it's all in the state of your mind.
If you think you're outclassed, you are.
You've got to think high to rise.
And you've got to be sure of yourself before
You ever can win the prize.
Life's battles don't always go
To the stronger or faster man,
But sooner or later the one who wins
Is the one who thinks he can.

The Girl in the Glass
When you get what you want in your struggle for self
And the world makes you queen for a day,
Just go to a mirror and look at yourself
And see what that girl has to say.
For it isn't your husband or family or friends
Whose judgment upon you must pass,
The only one’s verdict that counts in you life
Is the one staring back from the glass.
Some people may think your a straight-shootin’ chum
And call you a person of place,
But the gal in the glass says you're only a bum
If you can't look her straight in the face.
She's the one you must please never mind all the rest
For she's with you clear up to the end,
And you've passed your most dangerous, difficult test
If the girl in the glass is your friend.
You may fool the whole world down the pathway of years
And get pats on the back as you pass,
But you final reward will be heartaches and tears
If you've cheated the girl in the glass.

10 Things I Hate About You
I hate
the way you talk to me
And the way you cut your hair
I hate the way you drive my
car
I hate it when you stare.
I hate your big dumb combat
boots
And the way you read my mind
I hate you so much it makes
me sick –
It even makes me rhyme
I hate the way you’re always
right
I hate it when you lie
I hate it when you make me
laugh -
Even worse when you make me
cry
I hate it when you’re not around
And the fact that you didn’t
call
But mostly I hate the way I
don’t hate you –
Not even close, not even a
little bit, not even at all

Love Creed
I love you not only for what you are,
But for what I am when I’m with you.
I love you not only for what you have made of yourself,
But for what you are making of me.
I love you because you have done more than
Any creed could have done to make me good,
And more than any fate could have done to make me happy.
You have done it without a touch,
Without a word
Without a sign.
You have done it by being yourself.
Perhaps that is what being a good friend means,
After all.

Broken Dreams
As children bring their toys
with tears for us to mend,
I brought my broken dreams to God
because He was my friend.
But then instead of leaving Him
in peace to work alone,
I hung around and tried to help
with ways that were my own.
At last I snatched them back and cried
“How could you be so slow?”
“My child” he said “What could I do?
You never did let go.”

If I knew. . .
If I knew it would be the last time
That I’d see you fall asleep,
I would tuck you in more tightly
And pray the lord your soul to keep.
If I knew it would be the last time
That I see you walk out the door,
I would give you a hug and a kiss
And call you back for one more
If I knew it would be the last time
I’d hear you voice lifted up in praise
I would video tape each action and word
So I could play it back day after day
If I knew it would be the last time
I could spare an extra minute
To stop and say ‘I love you’
Instead of assuming you KNOW I do
If I knew it would be the last time
I would be there to share your day
Well I’m sure you’ll have so many more
So we can just let this one slip away
For surely there is always tomorrow
To make up for an oversight
And we always get a second chance
To make everything just right
There will always be another day
To say ‘I love you’
And certainly there’s another chance to say
Our ‘anything I can do?’
But just in case I might be wrong
And today is all I get
I’d like to say how much I love you
And I hope we never forget
Tomorrow’s not promised to anyone
Young and old alike
And today’s the last chance you might get
To hold your loved one tight
So if you’re waiting for tomorrow
Why not do it today?
For if tomorrow never comes
You’ll surely regret the day
That you didn’t take the extra time
For a smile, a hug, or a kiss
And you were to busy to grant someone
What turned out to be their one last wish
So hold on to your loved ones close today
And whisper in their ear
Tell them how much you love them
And that you’ll always hold them dear
Take time to say “I’m sorry”
“Please forgive”, “thank you” or “it’s okay”
And if tomorrow never comes
You’ll have no regrets about today

As seen on a tomb of an Anglican Bishop
in Westminster Abbey:
When I was young and free and my imagination had no limits, I dreamed of
changing the world.
As I grew older and wiser, I discovered the world would not change, so
I shortened my sights somewhat and decided to change only my country.
But it, too, was immovable.
As I grew into my twilight
years, in one last desperate attempt, I settled for changing only my family,
those closest to me, but, alas they would have none of it.
And now, as I lie on my deathbed,
I suddenly realize: If I had only changed myself first, then by example
I would have changed my family. From their inspiration and encouragement,
I would then have been able to better my country, and who knows,
I may have even changed the world.

Angels In My Heart
When I have no one to turn to
And I’m feeling kind of low,
When there’s no one to talk to
And nowhere to go,
I search deep within myself
It is the love inside my heart
That lets me know my Angels are there
Even though we are miles apart.
A smile then appears on my face
And the sun begins to shine.
I hear a voice so soft and sweet
Saying, 'Everything will be just fine'
It may seem, I am alone
But I am never by myself at all.
Whenever I need my Angels near
All I have to do is call.
An Angel's love is always true
On that you can depend.
They will always stand behind you
And will always be your friend.
Through darkest hours and brightest days
Our Angels see us through.
You are one of my Angels.
Perhaps I am one for you.

Friends for Life
I got your back,
You got mine,
I'll help you out
Anytime.
To see you hurt,
To see you cry,
Makes me weep,
And want to die.
And if you agree to never fight,
It doesn’t matter
Who’s wrong or right.
If a broken heart,
Needs a mend,
I'll be right there,
To the end.
If your cheeks are wet
From drops of tears,
Don’t you worry,
Let go of your fears.
Hand in hand
Love is sent,
We'll be friends,
Till the end.

Around the
corner I have a friend,
In this great city that has no end,
Yet the days go by, and the weeks rush on,
And before I know it a year has gone.
And I never see my old friends face,
For life is a swift and terrible race,
He knows I like him just as well,
As in the days when I rang his bell,
And he rang mine if, we were younger then,
And now we are busy, tired men.
Tired of playing a foolish game,
Tired of trying to make a name.
Tomorrow; I say, I will call on Jim
Just to show I am thinking of him.
But tomorrow comes and tomorrow goes,
And distance between us grows and grows.
Around the corner - yet miles away,
Here's a telegram sir, Jim died today.
And that's what we get and deserve in the end.
Around the corner, a vanished friend.
Remember to always say what you mean. If you love someone - tell them.
Don't be afraid to express yourself. Reach out and tell someone what they
mean to you, because when you decide that it is the right time, it might
be too late. Seize the day. Never have regrets. Most importantly,
stay close to your friends and family, for they have helped make you the
person you are today.
