He competes in the professional division of the Wal-Mart FLW, Everstart, and Central Pro-Am Association tournaments.
Joel is a well-known fisherman and highly regarded throughout the central region. In his first year on the FLW Tour, Joel finished in 21st place, qualifying him for the FLW Tour Championship.
Joel has received recognition for his achievements in the B.A.S.S. Times, Operation Bass's Bass Fishing Magazine, in the regionally published Fishin' Magazine, in regional newspapers (including the Tulsa World), and on "The Fishin' Magazine" television series.
