Humans go to war with each other. It is what they have
always done and always will do. M.A.D. has skewed that
somewhat, changing the pattern more to localised proxy wars..
When the people in power either create or enable a period of
peace for their country, the population can enjoy and entertain
such ideals as freedom, almost genuine civil rights and
democracy. However, if you look at the long view of human
history, this is not the default state.
Just who are the people with the power? They
are people with astronomical wealth who grow discontent after
buying, owning and doing all the things the very wealthy can do,
and then turn their ambitions towards accumulating tremendous
influence and power.
But unfortunately, at some point in
time the people in power can decide that their future position
does not look as secure as it was once. They look at the big picture of the
developments and changes across the globe and believe that their
country is losing its geopolitical position of strength in the
world.
They then take the view that to redress this,
their country needs to inject a massive commitment into its
industrial military production and engage in some impressive and
aggressive military posturing.
This they think will not
only elevate their nation to a greater position of strength, but
boost their own future economic prospects through the interest
they earn from lending more money to the government for arms
manufacturing and contracts, with companies that these people
often own themselves. Plus this new commitment in spending will
they believe reinvigorate the economy of their country in
general.
This can all sound very good until you
look at the loss of life and destruction of property and
infrastructure in the countries that are attacked, and the
suffering, injuries and loss of life of the soldiers fighting on
both sides.
Regardless, the people in power look at
the big picture and think it is essential that they press on.
The only hurdle is galvanising public
opinion so that the people across the country are fired up and angry and and willing to get on board with committing their
nation to a new war footing. Plus be willing to accept seeing their sons and daughters
engaging in aggressive foreign wars and military
campaigns.
But what event would generate the national
outrage, anger and commitment to support their country engaging in
another overseas war?
So what if the attacks on 9/11 were not
caused by foreign terrorists, but were organised and planned by
powerful and influential internal groups to ready the nation for
war. Perhaps even enlisting some help from clandestine elements
outside the country, from people who might have thought that their own interests
would also be served by an America ready for war.
If this is the case, it is pointless calling for justice
because the perpetrators are all well hidden and imbedded in the
political fabric of the nation over which they exert tremendous
influence. They are also protected on many different levels by
the country’s security forces.
If the attacks on 9/11 really were
organised by powerful individuals to ready their own nation for
war then those who died on that day were not victims of
terrorists, but were the unwilling, unknowing 'heroes' who were
the first to die in their nation’s latest war.
