At the memorial we split into two teams. Team 1 consisted of Mabel, Connie, Joyce, June, Georgina, Jay, and Kenji. They went straight up the valley and later split into two teams. Hopefully Jay will report on their adventure. Team 2 of which I was a member consisted of Bill our leader, Gordon, Dick, Brenda, Bob, and Lynn. We would walk thru the gate and turn left along the fence line. For the first 20 feet we cut grass and haole koa. Aakakii Stream was crossed and we then skirted the makai end of Kokololio Ridge. This took us thru an old pasture and lots of grass to cut. There was this pretty plant with tiny blue flowers AND STICKY SEEDS THAT GOT ALL OVER US. In this first picture you can see the memorial behind Brenda and the types of vegetation we had to clear.
