Poems and Stories

Choice~by Lesa Henderson
I am the breath of life,
a hint of hope with heartbeat and mind,
a future promise, not to be
But the question is more than to be or not to be.
I have a soul, and am all that is precious, innocence and joy. Yet, I will die before I have lived life full.
I will not see the world, beyond my mother's womb.
I was given the gift of life by God; it will be taken from me by man. I am too helpless to protest this injustice.
I am called choice, but what choice am I given?
I am a life, unbelieved to be a life.
I am a preborn child.

Everyone Has An Angel
Once upon a time there was a child ready to be born. So one day she asked God, "They tell me You are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?" God replied, "Among the many angels, I chose one for you. She will be waiting for you and will take care of you."
"But tell me, here in Heaven, I don't do anything else but sing and smile, and that's enough for me to be happy." God said, "Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you everyday. And you will feel your angel's love and be happy."
"And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me if I don't understand the language?" God said, "Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak."
"And what am I going to do when I want to talk to You?" God said, "Your angel will place your hands together and will teach you how to pray."
"I've heard that on earth there are bad men. Who will protect me?" "Your angel will defend you even if it means risking its life," God answered.
"But I will always be sad because I will not see You anymore." God said, "Your angel will always talk to you about Me and will teach you the way for you to come back to Me, even though I will always be next to you." At that moment there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from earth could already be heard. The child in a hurry asked softly, "Oh God, if I am about to leave now, please tell me my angel's name." God silenced all fear when He said, "Your angel's name is of no importance. You will simply call her 'Mommy"."

Prayers

Pro-Life Prayer
Loving God, Creator of all human life, we adore You and worship You. You create all human beings in Your image. May we, Your people, dedicate ourselves to defending the preborn, the terminally ill, the disabled, and all those threatened by the culture of death. We ask You to touch the hearts of all mothers considering abortion, the abortionists, and those who support killing preborn babies. Help all people, especially elected officials, to realize that innocent human life--from fertilization to natural death--is precious and worthy of protection. Give us courage and strength to follow the example of Jesus, Our Saviour, as we defend Your precious gift of life. Amen.

Prayer to St. Michael
Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our safeguard against the wickedness and the snares of the devil. Rebuke him, O God, we humbly beseech thee, and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the divine power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who wander through the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

A Pro-Life Prayer for Our Nation
God Our Father, Giver of life, we entrust the United States of America to Your loving care. You are the rock on which this nation was founded. You alone are the true source of our cherished rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Reclaim this land for Your glory and dwell among Your people.
Send Your Spirit to touch the heartsof our nation's leaders. Open their minds to the great worth of human life and the responsibilities that accompany human freedom. Remind Your people that true happiness is rooted in seeking and doing Your will.
Through the intercession of Mary Immaculate, Patroness of our land, grant us the courage to reject the "culture of death." Lead us into a new millennium of life. We ask this through Christ Our Lord. Amen!

Prayer for Human Life
Father, we praise You for the work of Your hands. For human life, made in Your image, for the gift of Your Son who saved our nature, for the power of Your Spirit, who fills our hearts, for all You bestow upon us, we praise You, we thank You, we bless You. Help us to protect the life You gave us: support the aged, guide the young, lift up the failing, and heal the sick. To all people grant Your truth in its fullness. May those who are yet unborn soon see the light of day and live to give You glory, through Christ our Lord.

Prayer for Reverence for Life
Almighty God, giver of all that is good, we thank You for the precious gift of human life:
- for the life in the womb, coming from Your creative power,
- for the life of children, making us glad with their freshness and promise,
- for the life of young people, hoping for a better world,
- for the life of people who are disabled, teaching us that every life has value,
-for the life of the elderly, witnessing to the ageless values of patience and wisdom.
Like Blessed Mary, may we always say “YES” to your gift. May we defend it and promote it from conception to its natural end. And bring us at last, O Father, to the fullness of eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
