What Is An "A-Dog" ?!
- Dubious origins of "The Anorexic Dogs" by Nick Magnus himself -
Well what more can you say than it was a couple of guys who got together and wanted to make music and be in a group? It all started when I became friends with Anthony Talley, who came over to my house and accidentally let his multi-instrumutal talents,(playing piano and the bass with his feet at the same time) out of the bag. It was the thing to do all the way back in 1999, to think si-mootaneously, which lead to us saying in stereo, (almost on cue) "hey!! we should start a group !" We soon discovered however, that you can't have a group with just two joe's on guitar and vocals, cans't you? So we had to find a drummer and another guitar accompaniment. Then it was said; "where ever shall we find such men to take part in such a deed?" Woosh! Years passed and off I was to a Higher than High, high school. Which was higher than the school below. Which was, St.Gregory, which depressed you from 8 AM to 3:10 PM, (I always hated that 10 minutes) but out of the gloomb, were two battered knights in shiney armour hot dogs, who became my friends. Jason a mad ox, and some guy from an English 3rd degree, namethed Andrew Barker of dogs (son of an Irish painter). One came with a guitar of purple colour, (he's straight) and the other had a drum kit, which he banged on like a banchy, whilst he barked like a dog. For a while it all seemed like a dream come true, (though we never played together anywhere) till this lil' fairy tale took it's night-marish turn. Suddenly one day! All gun-hoed, and hot-headed, off goose-stepping went Anthony to the Army, leaving us with no bass. (They soon buzzed down his golden- brown locks and silenced his sound of music) So suddenly we was a three man group, till everyone invited there uncles, cousins, friends, brothers, nephews, sisters, cousin to join our suffering musical outfit. Which we couldn't never agree upon, so we stayed three. We should've called us "The Three Amigo's" yet we should've called us alot of things, but (The Cicadas) wasn't good enough. Nor was anything else we did as a group, because of all the "uncomprimises" teenagers do have. But "A- Dog's ?!" Oh what, oh what, is an "A-Dog ?" Tis a joke or a knock on our dearist school's mascot "The Greyhounds." Since a greyhound is a dog that looks really, really skinny, and there isn't a single one among us who dare eat cafeteria food, (I think they took Greyhounds literally, that so called "taco meat" shouldn't come from a can, brother) so "anorexic" fits in. It could also be fair to say the dubbing of "The Quarry Men" on Lennon's part, from his "Quarry Bank High", comes to play an influence, in a pressure situation to change a band name to meet modern influence, and to contrast traditional ways of going about music things. I came up with the idea in a conversation with Jason, a mad ox, he was, on the way to one of the group's rehearsals after school. So thus "A-Dogs" comes from certain, comedic, philosophical minds, (well Jay's the mad ox Volcan) and is nothing more than a form of ridiculous satire.
So Three were we, till the wee, early Spring of 04', when a Dan WeedTree sprung up on us and entered. And so did a guy named Ricky Martin -jia who came along later on. He was so good that he had to leave the group for the Perubian American Idol. A guy by the name of Tim Jackson and his bongo patsy Javier, also joined. (Like I said everyone invited there uncles, cousins, friends, brothers, nephews, sisters, cousin to play music with us.) Where to now you arsk? Well we aren't exactly sure, yet one things for certain, if Jason is gone, and Andy is off with Rose, Rocky is big enough to fill that gap as he always does. So whatever happens remember, let the Anorexic Dogs run ! ! ! ! (till they die off or whatever..)
