Storino, Ben, Eric, Will, and Adam

The Acoustic Jimi Anthology

A Note On Acoustic Jimi

Acoustic Jimi is the name of a group that consists of mainly four people. They are as follows: Will, Ben, Adam, and Eric. With their powers combined, they could successfully turn any English project into a movie.

Will was often a supervising figure, complete with sarcastic I'm-from-the-North-so-I-can-say-this comments. You can call him The Producer.

Ben prided himself on being our camera-guy. Not only was he good at it, but he often provided the camera for us to use. You can call him The Director of Cinematography.

Adam, poor guy, was usually our main character. While anybody else might normally see that as the prime job, it usually meant that Adam had to perform some stupid stunt in which he hurt himself or was subjected to sub-zero temperatures. You can call him The Main Character.

Although the early projects were collaboration pieces from the start, several of the later projects were written by Eric. Not quick on his feet, you can count him to go into seclusion for days at a time and come out with an award winning script which shocks and amazes his peers everywhere. You can call him The Writer.

and now...

The Movie Collection

The Lions Club (movie trailer, 1:52, 12mb)

I thought this was a fun day. Just making a movie trailer for a movie that doesn't exist. I liked it.

Kirby Kills (3:14, 16.2MB)

This movie was the direct result of a bored Thursday afternoon. It goes to show that our usual weapon against nothing to do is, "Hey guys. Let's make a movie." Also, when we heard the song that goes with it, we knew then and there what we had to do. Chad McCoull calls this one "enthralling! I wet the bed."

A Toast To Friends (2:54, 16.38MB)

When Ben and Eric bought the movie editing software at the store, they were so excited they went home and made this. This is their first professionally edited movie (the "editing studio" prior to this was a camcorder, two old VCRs, and a tv). The sound recording device for the music was the camcorder itself; we're really sorry about that. The initial goal of this movie was to take the simplest object at our disposal, a toaster, and make it really exciting. Of course, as filming went on, that changed.

Evil: The Movie (10:15, 14.62MB)

The first "Evil" was filmed in November, 2002. It was an English assignment (dicussing the powers of Evil within Macbeth and LOTR: Two Towers). Adam stripped down to a bathing suit that was too small for him, and immersed himself completely in the near-freezing waters so that he could rise in slow motion, saying, "Rawr. I'm evil." Unfortunately, that beautiful footage was lost. Never fear! Almost a year later, Hurrican Isabel hit. About 2 days later, before any of the carnage the storm had caused was cleaned up, we decided to remake the "Evil" movie. This was an on-the-spot collaborative project between just about everybody.

Run (6:09, 16.32MB)

Simultaneously Acoustic Jimi's first premeditated script and first Acoustic Jimi movie with dialogue, this movie was designed to be a cathartic experience for The Main Character. After the climax of this movie, no further footage was actually filmed due to The Main Character's injuries. You may notice that after the climax in this movie, footage from the beginning was reused. This movie features the tune, "Only In Dreams," by Weezer; we figured it was appropriate.

Film School (9:35, 16.74MB)

The next movie that actually started from a written script, this one features the English Teacher of Life And Death, Mr. Donne Storino. Legends of Storino have circulated around Thomas Dale High School for years, and hopefully will for years to come (now that he's retired). The kids at the school now need to know that they lucked out in not being subjected to the hardships brought about by this man. Don't get me wrong - he's super cool, and his toughness definitely prepared me for later on, but that doesn't change how much it hurt to do that much work. The goal in this movie was compare a realistic struggle of a student in high-school to a surrealistic sword fight. Storino, nicknamed Big Daddy, has a staff dubbed, "The Prophet," while Random Student A has a mysterious sword called, "The Composer."

A Batman Arrangement (1:16, 15.37MB)

The footage from this short video comes from a short movie about Batman filmed by Sandy Collora, called "Batman: Dead End." Sandy made this film for $30,000, but didn't get permission from DC Comics to use the Batman trademark. Ergo, he wasn't allowed to make any money off of what was not his. I thought it would be ok to take some footage from him without asking so you the viewer can view it for free, since that's pretty much what he did to DC Comics. The music video I made out of Sandy's short film is put to the song "BOOM", by POD.

A Look Behind (3:46, 16.03MB)

This was a nostalgia piece that makes me cry when I watch it. The song is called "Death in D Major," and the footage was built from "A Toast To Friends," "Evil: The Movie," "Film School," and "Run." Fun films we made which would have been perfect for this are "Kirby Kills," and the Acoustic Jimi full-length feature "Movie Movie." Sadly, due to technical complications, these films could not be manipulated into a viewable medium for the public at this time. We here at Acoustic Jimi Productions are very sorry.
