The Silver Dragon's are able to use spells and mostly every one of them has a spell book. If they have access to this spell book they can use spells such as transform or cold beam. You begin with three spells that are recorded on your info page as well as a spell called transform. They are often willing to aid good adventurers, if the need is great. As you battle in the training center, you will learn more spells and moves. Below is a link to the spells page to let you know of some of the spells that are known.
