PLASTIC &

Here is a list of company's I have found that use plastics #1 or #2. The reason this is so important is because local recycling projects usually only collect #1 or #2. Of the plastics that can be recycled 1 & 2 are the easiest to recycle. However, did you know that when plastics are recycled they still have to use new plastics? This is not a good thing. So I urge you to purchase glass container products when possible vs. plastic. But if you must choose plastic, please choose only #1 or #2. You can find the # on the bottom of the container or sometimes it's written on the label.

Plastic CAN NOT BE RECYCLED.

When choosing the correct plastic, always finish the cycle by recycling. And please, PLEASE urge others to do the same! Education goes a long way and with your help we can get ALL COMPANIES TO THINK ECOLOGICALLY! As an added note to my plastic page: Hemp can be used to replace petrol in making plastics, thus making the hemp plastic biodegradable!

Company's that DO use #1 or #2

Sun Dog products (included in my giftbaskets)

Dr. Bronner's Castile Soap (you can order thru me)

Lawry's Marinades 1(800)9LAWRYS

HUNT'S Ketchup: Hunt-Wesson, Inc P.O. Box 4800 Fullerton, Ca 92834

Nature Sunshine Vitamins: 1(800)223-8225

Four Paws (iguanna vitamin and calcium spray supplements)

This is the one product I do strongly support and push and it doesn't come in plastic. BON AMI cleanser. It's similar to Comet though has no dye, chlorine or perfume and IS safe for the environment. You can find it right next to comet. It comes in a gold can w/ a picture of a chick hatching from an egg IT REALLY WORKS! I USE IT FOR EVERYTHING! It's a great cleanser and I don't feel guilty washing it down the drain.

Company's that DON'T

Yoplait Yogurt. They use #5, and oddly have a message on their containers asking to help protect animals by crushing the container before throwing it away. You can write Yoplait to urge them to use #1 or #2 plastic at:
General MIlls, Inc.
P.O. Box 1113
Minneapolis, MN 55440

Plochman's Mustard (815)468-3434

McCormick Spices: McCormick & Co., Inc. Hunt Valley, MD 21031-1100

ADD TO MY LIST...

Please email me w/ any company's you want added to either lists. If it's a company that is on the DON'T list please include an address we can write to.

I have included addresses or tele #'s so you can write/call company and thank them for using correct plastics or ask them to use correct plastics. I am not attacking any companies on this page! I am simply supplying a list of companys that do or don't use plastic #1 or #2 in hopes that all companies will soon be on my DO list! If you as a company are on my Don't list, I am NOT telling people to stop buying your products; so don't bother suing me. I am simply trying to persuede you to change your plastic use practices. I am not uring people to ban any Don't list products, that is your choice if you do so. However, I myself only buy products using plastic #1 or #2.
