"Tay!" Walker called from the kitchen.
"Yeah!" Taylor called back as he made his way into the kitchen.
"I need you to go down to the hardwear store and get a washer for the tap".
"Ok, what kind? Any?"
"One like this one," said Walker holding up an old washer, "but preferralbly whithout a massive tear in it though".Tay smiled,
"Yeah ok". He held out his hand for some money.
"I was hoping you'd be nice enough and offer to buy it yourself," said Walker shaking his head as he reached into his pocket and pulled out his wallet.
"And why would I do that?"
"Cos you are genuine nice guy?" Walker guessed.
"Yeah I know, but us nice guys can only go so far". Walker handed Taylor a $10 note.
"Keep the change," he said.
"Isn't that the point?" said Tay walking out of the kitchen.
"Such a little smart ass," Walker said smiling.
"Yeah I know, like father like son". With that Taylor quickly walked into the lounge before his dad could respond. "Hey Zac, ya wanna come for a walk?" Taylor asked his brother.
"Yeah sure, where," Zac replied standing up."To the hardwear store".
"Ugh, no thanks," said Zac sitting back down next to Avery.
"Why not?"
"It's too hot, I'm not walking all the way to the hardwear store," Zac complained.Taylor rolled his eyes.
"Oh no, not a whole block, no.." Taylor said sarcastically.
"I'll come with you Tay," said Avery.
"Hey, I thought we were playing barbies," said Zac to Avery pretending to look hurt.
"No, that's ok Avie. You better stay here and watch Zac. Who knows what he'll get up to in a room by himself with a stack of half naked, plastic women".
"That's for me to know and you to find out," said Zac, grinning cheekily.
"I'd rather not," said Taylor. Avery just sat there with a confused look on her face, obviously not getting what the guys were talking about, understandably. Taylor walked over to the door and put his shoes on. "Well, see ya," he said to his siblings.
"See ya," they both responded, as Taylor walked out the front door shutting it behind him.
"Hi, just this thanks," said Taylor placing the packaged washer he'd chosen on the counter.
"Just this? Ok, that's $2.80," said the lady behind the counter. She was wearing a blue apron over her clothes and a badge that read 'Tina'. Taylor handed her the money.
"Here you go," she said placing the change in his palm, "$7.20 change".
"Ok, thanks". Taylor grabbed the washer, which was now in a plastic bag, off the counter.
"Have a nice day" said the lady.
"Yeah, you too". Taylor began walking towards the door. Just as he was about to step out of the store he heard a voice call,
"Hey".Taylor turned to see who it was.
"Chloe," he said with a smile on his face when he recognised the girl.
"You remembered my name?" she said pleased.
"Of course I did. You work here?" he asked noticing her apron which was identical to the one the 'Tina' lady was wearing.
"Yeah, the funky apron gave it away huh?"
"Just a bit" Taylor smiled. "When do you get off?"
"Um, right now actually," said Chloe looking at her watch.
"Well, do you wanna walk with me?"
"Yeah, sure".
"Cool".
"I'll just get my stuff, back in a sec". Chloe ran off to the back of the store out of sight from Taylor. In a few seconds she was back, apronless and carrying a small, leather, black backpack."Ok, let's go," she said and they both stepped out of the store and began walking down the street.
"So did you enjoy the concert?" Taylor asked.
"Yeah, it was so cool, you should've stayed" said Chloe, with a big smile on her face.
"Yeah, I kind of wish I did now. My brothers were going on and on about it all morning".
"Is that Isaac and Zac?" she asked.
"Yeah, I take it you know my name is Taylor right?"
"Doesn't everyone?" she said smiling.
"I wouldn't have a clue," he said also smiling.
"Where abouts do you live?" she asked.
"Just around the block, how about you?"
"Around the next block". As they walked a long for the next couple of minutes they casually chatted about stuff like Admiral Twin, Chloe asked about his band and just about stuff they noticed as they walked. "I knew you were Taylor Hanson as soon as I bumped into you," she said, carrying on the conversation. "I just didn't want to say anything".
"You could've, I wouldn't have minded," Tay said smiling.
"Yeah, but what was I supposed to say?"
"Um..hi?"
Chloe laughed, "Yeah, well that's obvious, but I didn't want to sound like a complete freak going "oh my god you're Taylor Hanson" and shame myself out".
"Yeah, well, most girls just scream right in our faces," he laughed.
"See, that must be so annoying. There's no way I would've done that. I would've been too embarassed to. Especially in the middle of the street". Tay laughed,
"It's not that annoying. It's quite flattering".
"Yeah I guess," she smiled.
"Well, this is my house," said Taylor as they stopped infront of his driveway.
"Wow, the famous Hanson house. It's big," Chloe commented.
"Yeah, it kinda has to be," Tay said. They stood there, silent for a while.
"Hey, do you want to get together later and see a movie or something?" sheasked.
"Um...Chloe, I kind a have a girlfriend," Taylor said, waiting to see her reaction.
"Well, it doesn't have to be a date or anything, we could go as friends, unless your girlfriend doesn't want you to.. or you don't want to I guess".
"No, I want to...yeah ok, tonight....as friends. There's nothing wrong with that".
"Exactly".
"Well, what's your number? I'll call you".
"Here, I'll write it down," she said. She took her bag off her back, opened it and reached in and pulled out a pen and a small note book."I come prepared," she said writing down her number.Taylor laughed,
"Obviously".
"Here you go," she said tearing out the page in her note book and handing it to Taylor.
"Cool, well I'll call you later and we can figure everything out".
"Yeah, ok".
"Ok, I'll se ya later".
"Bye". Chloe turned around and continued walking up the street. Taylor watched her from behind. We're just friends, it doesn't mean anything, which was true. Even though Sarah was being so strange to him, he still loved her. Besides, he's got plenty of girl friends. Why should Chloe be any different? She's cuter, that's why. Taylor smiled and started walking up the driveway, towards the house.
