Stacie's story

i saw them on july 10 at the birch hill, but that wasn't enough, i had to see them again..it was july 15, 1999. i worked that morning, and i was supposed to work all night, but my boss tries to make me more social, so he told me i could take the night off, so, i called this girl, we jumped on the next train to NY (i live in med new jersey) and then caught a cab to irving plaza. we got in, watched shades apart, we met them like 3 times and they remember us so that was cool. since we didn't really like dovetail joint, we went to talk to shocky and stuff. as they were finishing, we made our way to the front of the stage. they came out and i was so blown away. i swear that butch looked at me. they played, and i was all the way to the left sode of the stage, right next to a huge pile of speakers. during the encore when they were playing always something there to remind me, butch decided to climb on them.. he said to me "watch yourself".. so, i was like , yeah, that's awesome. while he was up there, jayce threw a pic at me.. it was white. he threw me a red one the on the 10th, so i gave teh pic to the girl i was with. so, the show ended and we went to the tour bus where slug was standing outside. he got back into the bus before i got a chance to meet him, but butch and jayce came out. i talked to butch's mom (i didn't know who she was when i did) and jayce's friend who told us about his kids. anyway, jayce signed my album.. it was weird, when i gave it to him, he looked through it as if he had never seen it before. then, i made my way over to butch. he was talking to this little boy who was front row center. he turned to me and i was all choked up.. i don't know what happened, i've net a lot of musicians but he just totally choked me up. he signed my cd, and asked my name.. i said stacie, and he goes "ey, right?" i was like "actually i spell my name with an ie" so he said laughed a little and said "glad i asked" he signed it, and drew this little heart w/ an M in it. he was about to talk to someone else, but i didn't want the moment to end. i blurted out "could i have a hug?" i was surprised w/ myself for saying that, but he said "aww, you don' thave to ask, just do it" he had the best southern accent. and his hug wasn't a boring hug, my face was in his sweaty shirt, and he like rubbed my back, not just a squeeze. but, my friend pointed out that we had to catch the train, so we had to go get a cab. i swear, i could have cried. it was the best thirty seconds of my life. i was soo happy in his arms.

the last bit is a wee bit cheesy, but we've all been there, don't deny it!!!
