Well, I got home at 2 am after the Milwaukee show and showered and went straight to bed. After all, I did have to go to class at 9:30 am and COULD NOT be late! So I made it through class sleepily and I had to actually describe one of the cases that we read... the solid fuel campaign or some thing. That really is very irrelevant to what is at hand.
So we get on the road after I take about a million years to get ready and throw my stuff together. We stop to eat at the Wendy's in Sheboygan, and as we are sitting outside the car I see what I thought was the tour bus go by... so we got in the car and drove faster than I thought was possible and made the trip to Green Bay in much less time than it actually takes. Then we stopped off at the Wal-Mart so I could pick up a few things to give to someone and we were off again.
We got to the Phoenix Sports Center at around 4pm and just as we are getting out of the car this little golf cart is cruising across the parking lot and Jayce and Mitch were waving at us... so we waved back... felt a little embarrassed, but it was neat (neat, what am I three?) Then we walked up to the gates, and realized this was going to be a very very different night... All that was around the area of the crowd was snow fencing... (i hope you all know what that is.. if not, it is like chicken wire with wooden slats what are used to kind of hold snow in one place...) And it was a very small area for people.
So we camped out by some tables and sat there forever, then Shocky set up the merch booth right there so we jabbered with him for a while and sat some more. The first band that played was Average Sun. They sounded very familiar but I don't know why, because as far as I knew I had never heard of them before. Then I believe Ed Temple came on... now I am sooooo sorry, but I have to say this.... I was laughing so hard at this band, they didn't know how to move and they didn't really fit together, it was weird. They weren't bad, just goofy!!
Mid-way through Ed Temple, Lyss and I left Shocky and went to the "pit" and very easily got front row... I tell ya there was nobody there!! After Ed Temple was done, Showoff took stage, which confused me cuz I just figured Self would and I really wanted to see Self again anyway. But Showoff took stage and they did basically the same stuff as the night before, but this time I didn't get any water thrown or spit on me... YEA!! I was on a different side!! :)
After a while some really weird stuff started happening and Showoff explained that it was the last date of their tour with the Marives and they thought that they were messing with them. Then during the last song I believe, two of the guys from Self come running onto the stage with these foul smelling smoke sticks and it filled the air, I may have pics of this, but it is on my 40 roll and I have like 30 pics left so I won't know for a while. And It looked just awesome...
Then Showoff went off the stage and Self set up and played... during one song the guys from Showoff sabotaged them with Silly string and COVERED the stage with it... Soon enough you see Billy running to mitch's drums and cleaning them off... Then after a bit Dave from showoff came back on again this time he had honey and was going to pour it down Matt's pants, except since he had electronics on him he didn't, instead he chose to pour it into his mouth and let it goop out onto the stage and the speakers and everything. Then he threw it on the crowd. I luckily had just missed it... or so I thought. The people next to me were covered in it and soon enough so was I!! :( yet :)
You know, this may be my longest review yet.. :) So with my sweatshirt covered in honey and having being stuck to the chick next to me for about the whole internission, I decided that I needed to take the sweatshirt off... BAD MOVE!! I told you it was cold... I had on once again, a tank top!! Freezing my arse off!! The chick from UWGB came on and said a few things and I was totally bored with that I mean I don't care, I am not from GB!! :) Thankfully!! Sorry GB peeps, I grew up real close to there and spent most of my time there.. and really am sick of it!
Finally Queen starts blaring and the lights are going all funky and I am cold but very happy. Until I get the honey covered chick bouncing up and down right against me and soon I am covered in it even more than before and she is basically stuck to my tank and that is doing funky things.. half the time it was being pulled it looked like I was trying to flash the guys... NO!!! That was not my intent!! The steam you could just see rising from mitch's back and shoulders... it was really very very cool. And they all had jackets on when they came out and very quickly mitch had his off and so did butch but jayce kept his on for most of the show. For as small a crowd that was there, it was pretty rocking!! At least in my honey covered sticking together bouncing section... man I need to check the section I am going to be in next time... Cuz I definitely don't want that section again.
What really sucked was during Mrs. Jackson, I think it was, Butch's guitar went all screwy and he kept having to turn it off and it just sounded bad... Who knows what that was about!! But it was fixed by the big guitar part. THANKFULLY!! Later jayce was doing pick tricks and one fliped into the audience and hit right in the cheek, I asked the security guard for it, but he gave it to someone else... I mean come on it hit my face!! that should count for something right??
Side note: right now someone smells like hot dogs...
Anyways.. :) BAck to the show. So I was rather bummed, I wanted another pic!! But I thought it was cool. Let someone else who doesn't have one get one right? Of course!! The did freak of the week and then went off stage, an surprisingly enough, the crowd was pretty loud!! (for green bay) Then they came out for their encore... WOOO HOO! I love their version of "Always Something there to Remind Me!!" It was pretty kickin!
After the show we went back to the car so I could change my shirt and the only shirt I had was my nightgown so I had to tie that in a know and walk around in my jammy top, it wasn't good, but it was better than being covered in honey... oh yeah.. and I had to use a wet wipe to get rid of the honey on my arms and hair. It worked, I was shocked!!
Then we went back and talked to Shocky a little more and then Jayce came running over by us and said he needed a hug before he got some food. So we got another wonderfully warm hug on a VERy chilly night. Then we said bye ot Jayce and Shocky for what we THOUGHT would be our last marvie show of the tour... Spontinaity ain't it a bitch!
