My first experience with the Foo Fighters was on the radio, which is how it is with most bands. I always liked the songs I heard but I wasn't too into buying cds until about junior or senior year of high school (now its quite an obsession). Then a little before Easter (of 2000)I got tickets to see them with the Red Hot Chili Peppers on July 10th at Nissan Pavilion in Virginia (which is where Dave is from!!!!!!!). So, I decided that I should know some more of their songs so I got their cd (actually the 'Easter Bunny' brought it for me. hehe! And I really liked all of the songs. Then I heard the acoustic Everlong on the radio and I went psycho! Not really, but I really love that song and played acoustic it is the best. So, I bought their second cd which is probably my favorite (wow, its so hard to pick!). Then I went to the concert which was awesome except that I wish the Foo Fighters could have played longer. And also, when Dave went out into the audience I thought he was going to walk right by me on his way back but then he went over the chairs instead:( So, that kind of sucked but the good stuff outweighs the bad moment.
My second live experience with the Foo Fighters happened on November 16th at the Black Cat in DC. It starts before that day though. I had tried to get tickets to see them at the 9:30 club but it sold out in like 5 minutes and i was not one of the lucky ones to get tickets. I cried:( BUT then...my friend Alyssa told my one night at dinner that she heard that they were playing at the Black Cat. That night we were going to see Elliott Smith at the 9:30 club so I ran back and called Ticketmaster and I got THE LAST TICKET!!! The guy thought I was crazy to go alone...did he think I would give THAT up? No way!! So, the night of the concert my mom took me (hehe, my dad didn't feel comfortable letting me go alone;) and the people at the Black Cat (which Dave is a part owner:) were really nice and let my mom hang out in the bar area. Anyway...the concert was amazing, the best thing I have ever been to!!! Better than the Smashing Pumpkins concert that I rave about somewhere else on this page *gasp*! They played for almost 2 and a 1/2 hours nonstop and played the best stuff ever. They came out and Dave said something along the lines of it being the last show and they thought about not having a set list but were going to play some from each album. They then proceeded to play almost all of the first album!!! then a few covers and little things!!! then some from the second one!!! thenmore covers and short things!!! then some from the latest cd!!! Check out the set list: (I will put this here when I get back to school!). After the show was over (no encore...I think they exhausted their repetoire (spelling??) I stayed up front (oh yeah, I was like the second 'row' for the whole thing!) and they started cleaning up and I kept asking for picks but didnt get any. Then they threw two drum sticks out and I didn't go for the first one but I broke out some aggression and got the second one!!! But this girl yelled, "HEY! I ASKED FOR THAT!!!" (duh, didn't we all?) I was a little scared so I went over to the other side. And then they threw out like 4 more sitcks!!! And a nice bouncer guy gave one to me:) That was so awesome. They are both really used and I just KNOW that Dave and Taylor used them (Dave played drums on Have a Cigar!) and they smell like sweat and smoke-hehe. So, thats the story of the greatest thing ever!!!!!!

Dave and Taylor

Yeah, Dave and Taylor are two of the coolest people in the music biz. I just want to be friends with them. I can't even explain why I like them so much, I just do! Maybe its because they are both drummers...drummers are hot. *UPDATE* I now have FOO FIGHTER drum sticks. I got them after the Black Cat show on November 16th!!

CDs

Foo Fighters(self titled)- This is the one that Dave played everything on except for like one guitar track I think. It's good, go get it! 'For all the cows' is great!
The Colour And The Shape- This is perhaps my favorite one. I love everlong, and doll, and february star, and walking after you and just about every other one too.
There Is Nothing Left To Lose- Very good, Learn to Fly, Stacked Actors and Aurora are SO good. I really like the other ones too. There are now two versions out (kind of), the cardboard ones that came out first and now the hard jewel cased ones.
