We woke up about an hour later. It was really nice to wake up in his arms, very comforting. The rest of that day was mostly spent unpacking, the the whole next week was spent getting ready for the tour. I went over countless security procedures with the rest of the crew, Adam and Jord, rehearsing the shows and doing emergency practice procedures. By the end of the week, we were sure that we could deal with any amount of crazed teenyboppers. I didn't really see Summer much that week, as crazy as that sounds. She was busy working with Miranda on her 'technique', and I pretty much spent most of my spare time with AJ, sometimes the rest of the guys.
By the time came to roll out to B.C. came, we were getting bored with staying in one place. We had spent a couple of nights on the bus to get used to it, and a few at out place as we finalized things. The Toronto to B.C. trip is about 4 days, and mostly horrible. Our busmates, Jared, Sam and Erica, were hardly on the bus, as the three of them quickly discovered the dancers. When they were there, however, the ate al lof our food and left huge messes. Summer and I couldn't deal with them, so we figured out how not to.
Whenever they invaded the bus, Summer and I adopted the spare bunk and the couch in the boy's bus. This was cool, cause AJ certainly didn't mind, and Summer and Nick were getting more comfortable with each other. They insisted that they were only friends, but I knew that wouldn't last very long. Whenever our bus was empty, whoever wanted to escape the other guys would join us, usually AJ, sometimes Kevin. He insisted that he needed the peace and quiet.
One night, AJ and I were alone on our bus, as Summer was hanging out with the guys, stopped at a rest-stop along the highway to let the drivers stretch their legs. It was our second night on the road, and I'd fallen asleep in AJ's arms in my bunk. We had talked for what seemed like ages, and we both drifted off. I woke up when I heard the bus door open, assuming that it was the driver, but when the bus didn't start up again and move, I stuck my head out the curtain and took a peek, quickly pulling it back in.
"Shit, AJ...wake up!" I whispered into his ear.
"Baybee... c'mere..." he mumbled, pulling me to him.
I moved away. "No... wake up, but be quiet... look out the curtain!" I sounded urgent. AJ moaned and pulled the curtain back, seeing the same thing that I had; a tall man dressed completely in black with a ski mask over his face. The man had stopped just across from my end of the bunk and was swinging a flashlight around him, looking for something.
My mind quickly formed a plan, as I was trained in security measures like this. I leaned into AJ, whispereing quickly what I wanted him to do into his ear. He started to shake his head no, but I shot him a glare that he clearly understood and gave into. He moved to the end of the bunk that the man was standing next to and rolled out of the bunk, making sleepy noises and walking away from the man. As he was doing this I crept out of the bunk unnoticed, due to AJ's distraction. When the man turned quickly towards AJ, I dove for the back of his knees, bringing him dowm to the floor in a tackle. AJ swiftly grabbed the man's hands and pinned him to the floor, as I grabbed the phone in the bus, calling Max, the security guard.
When Max arrived at the bus with back-up, AJ released the man, who hadn't spoken, into Max's capable custody. Max oulled the man's ski mask off, revealing a head of dirty blond hair and shocking green eyes that had a dull hardness to them. I got goosebumps and shivers, so AJ pulled me closer to him. Max sent the man away with his back-up and offered to stay with us.
"No, man, we'll be fine once the bus gets moving again." AJ said, reassuring both me and himself. After Max left, AJ and I stood there, shocked.
"That was really scary, J." I whispered. "Does this shit happen very often?"
AJ shook his head. "No, never. It's usually just crazy fans that hide in the busses." He turned to look at me. "I'm glad you were here, bodyguard." he said, as he sat bock down onto the bunk.
"I'm glad I was too, but, woah!" I said, getting in beside him. I lay on my side, propping myself up on my elbow to get a better look at AJ. "Now I'm all freaked out. I know that there's no way that I'm gonna sleep tonight." I said. He grinned at me, his eyes glinting. "Shame on you, J!" I laughed. "That's not what I meant, and you know it!" he stuck his lower lip out and pouted at me. It was my turn to grin. "But it's not such a bad idea.." I said as I kissed him.
All of a sudden, we heard a knocking noise on the door. Neither of us moved, we were frozen. The knocking continued, and the door knob rattled, Max had locked it on his way out. AJ got up and stood by the door as the knocking continued.
"Who's there?" he asked. We were both silent as we waited for an answer.
