Slifka takes second at AAU wrestling tourney

                                        Fourth straight year Slifka has qualified

                                        Kyle Slifka, a seventh grade student at
                                        Crestwood Junior High, recently took
                                        second place in the 215-pound senior
                                        division at the 2001 Iowa Kids AAU State
                                        Wrestling Folkstyle Championship held at
                                        the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids.

                                        A total of 1470 wrestlers in grades three
                                        through eight from eight districts in Iowa
                                        competed at the tournament Mar. 24-25.

                                        This season marked the fourth straight year
                                        that Kyle qualified for the state tournament.
                                        His previous placings at State are as
                                        follows: fourth grade - first place, fifth
                                        grade - fourth place, and sixth grade -
                                        second place.
