Cadet wrestlers set many records

17-5-2 dual meet record

The Crestwood varsity wrestling team set several records during the 2002-03 season as the Cadets concluded the season with an impressive 17-5-2 dual meet record (5-0-1 in the Northeast Iowa Conference).

The Cadets placed first this season at the Oelwein Invitational, the Flanagan Invitational, the NEIC Tournament and the Sectional Tournament. Crestwood placed third at the District Tournament and 10th at the State Tournament.

Senior Eric Pedretti, who won a state title at 171 pounds on Mar. 1, set a new Crestwood school record for wins in a season with 40. Eric also set the school record in team points with 278 and tied a school record with 31 three-point near falls. He also recorded 23 pins, had 17 two-point near falls and had seven technical falls. For his career at Crestwood, Eric recorded 66 three-point near falls, scored 586 team points and had nine technical falls.

Senior Mark Jensen, who placed fourth at state at 130 pounds this year, finished the year with 39 wins and recorded 260 team points. Mark tied the school record with 25 pins this season. Mark concluded his wrestling career at Crestwood with 107 wins (fifth in school history), scored 650 total team points (second in school history) and recorded 73 pins (most in school history).

Senior Tylor Burke, who wrestled at 135 pounds this season, ended the year with 38 wins, 238 team points, 20 two-point near falls and a total of 46 two and three-point near falls. Tylor concluded his wrestling career at Crestwood with 75 three-point near falls, 573 team points, 56 pins and a total of 112 two and three-point near falls.
