Thanx STACEY!! This review is awsome!!

How do you react to a phenomenon, especially one that has sold some 40 million records worldwide and makes an entrance by cable-flying onto the stage? If you were one of the 20,107 (mostly) teenage girls at The Pyramid, where the Backstreet Boys played Sunday to the second-largest event in the building's history, you screamed, jumped, blushed, cried, screamed, hyperventilated and screamed again. Even Shania Twain and Alanis Morisette felt shut out of the clubhouse tonight. Who's to say if the Backstreet Boys will ultimately be judged less a modern-day Beatles than our Bay City Rollers? As the future enroaches with rapid uncertainty, the Backstreet crew are the kings of pop, offering optimism and eyes-wide-open anticipation of a brave new world when other popular forms from rap to rock only offer nihilism. Don't miss the significance of Backstreet's latest album title, simply called "Millennium". The packed Pyramid got its piggy bank's worth: two hours of nonstop dancing and choreographed moves, pyrotechnics, a rainbowfilled light show, costume changes and a round stage---reminiscent of Metallica's last arena tour---that gave everyone a good seat., none better than when the limber Backstreeters took wing again, this time flying right over the adoring horde. There was clearly no evidence of Milli Vanilli trickery here. A real band played behind the five gorgeous singers-- none other than Nick Carter, Brian Littrell, Howie Dorough, A.J McLean, and Kevin Richardson--who offered the same airy vocalizing and tight harmonies live that they pull off on record. And because they're capable of tunes so honestly catchy as "Quit Playin' Games With My Heart", "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)", and "I Want It That Way", the Backstreet Boys deserve the commercial lead they maintain over boy-band competition such as (gag) 'N Sync and 98º. Candy-pop opener Mandy Moore got her 15 minutes of fame...literally. The second opener, E.Y.C ("Express Yourself Clearly"), extended their stay (unfortunately) by an extra 10 minutes and surprised the audience, who roared en masse as if Backstreet were taking the stage. When it dawned (rather quickly) on the sea of ecstatic teens that only three guys were doing the dancing, the reaction dropped by several decibels within a matter of seconds from unbounded ecstasy to mere enthrallment. Thousands of girls hadn't been saving their money for this night, you see---they had been saving their hearts. And while my friend Amanda and I hung out the car windows with Backstreet music blaring, screaming "We're Backstreet Bound!!" as my mother waited in traffic, we each knew what the other was thinking. "Tonight's gonna be the best night of my life". And indeed, it most certainly was. -Stacey McGovern

Thank-you so much JESSICA for sending this to me. It is about the BSB concert in Charlotte, NC on 9-17-99

ok first of all i just have to say that the concert was great! i loved it soooo much!! ok we got there and we had to stand in line for like an hour untill they let us it but it was ok b/c you get people around you to talk to you that love the bsb like you anyways when we got in they make you open up your bag so they can check for cameras but you can still hide them in your pants or shirt lol. so we went in and there was long lines everywhere to buy merchendise but we still had like 40 min so we stood in the long lines to get us some hot honeys on t shirts lol. so we went in and all thse people started doin the wave and chanting bsb and the bsb kept peeking out of the curtain beside where they come out and all the had to do it like put a finger out and they would scream soo loud lol. then the stupid event staff came and made us get away. then the band came out then the lights went down and these people in black came out with these big pointy lights that they put up on stage and they went dim and then the BSB came out of a big black box that was smoking on the surfboards well they weren't really surfboaurds they were much smaller and they flew around a little bit and they landed on stage and asked us how charlotte north carolina was doin. and then they sang larger than life it was soo awesome. i'm really really sorry but i can't even remember what song they played after that! i was soo excited i guess but i do remember they would come up on this platform thing and nick would pretend to collapse and stuff. it was cute. but here is my favorite part!!! they climbed up on these little ladder things ( they each had there own) and brian was just sitting on it signing and nick was sitting there shaking it i was like oh shit he's gonna make it fall! and aj was humping it and i must say he looked mighty fine doing that lol. and i couldn't even se howie but kevin's pants ripped and you could see his BRIEFS i always thought he wore boxers lol. but he was holding them and was like i'm sorry i'm not trying to expose myself. i was like i don't care kevin take them off! and they changed about 4 or 5 times . first with the space suits then with the leather things then with the white and pink pants then all in white ( i think) and then into like regular clothes and brian had on this light blue jacket and i almost died he was soo hot! and when they introduced the band members brian was doing this little dance and i couldn't belive how cute he looked i really don't think a guy can look any cuter ( i'm sorry you guys that don't really like brian but he was on my side alot so i could see him the best) anyways then nick told us if he wanted to see the dancers duke it out to give him a whoop whoop. so the whole audience was doin that while 2 of the dancers would dance together one at a time and fatima was dancing with them!! she was doing these backflips and stuff, she's really good! and they sang every song off there new cd except nick's solo and they sang that's the way i like it, everybody, quit playin games, i can't really remember the rest sorry. but kevin had this solo on the piano and it was soooooo pretty!! and mindi ( i think that's her name) came over and played with him on one of her instruments and it was soo pretty the platform rose up and he was playing on it and everything. it was sooo good. then they went off stage after singing show me the meaning of being lonely b/c howie said that it was the last song they were gonna sing but it wasn't they came back and sang some other songs and then they ended with i want it that way. and they all came around and bowed and glitter came down and fireworks came down. my favorite was don't want you back, that's the way i like it, and show me the meaning of being lonely. god if you guys have tickets you guys are just gonna love it b/c it will be a show to remember!! well that's my review if you have any questions bout it then just e-mail me at broklover69@hotmail.com

Thank-you KIM for sending in this awsome review!!!

Okay here goes! I was so happy when i heard that i had gotten tix for the backstreet boys, on september 22nd in boston! (which was 2 days ago!) i was so excited! i went with my aunt, my cousin and my cousin's friend. okay so we drove to boston and were in traffic for like ever! but it was worth it! we finally got to the concert. we went to find our seats and we couldn't believe it! i ran down the stairs, with my head down looking at the row number trying to find ours. i knew that the further down i went, the closer we were to the stage! i finally stopped at row 5!!!! yes i'm not kidding! we were 5 rows from the stage! i couldn't believe it!! my cousin, her friend and me were so excited!!! finally the opening act came on. it was the group EYC. they were cool but i wasn't crazy about them. i just couldn't wait to see bsb! then after EYC, everyone waited for the backstreet boys! everyone was cheering, "BACKSTREET BOYS! BACKSTREET BOYS!" and we even did the wave!!! then like 20 or 30 minutes later, the lights went dark, the screams started and on came the star wars theme song. and then there were the BACKSTREET BOYS!!!!!! i stood up and took pics and screamed!!! they came down and landed on the stage. the concert was in the round so they walked to each side and stood so fans could take pics. (i wish i had a scanner so i could send you pics) then they sang "larger than life" they sang all their new songs from their new cd "millennium" including some others from their old cd. (as long as you love me, quit playing games, i'll never break your heart, all i have to give, get down and we've got it goin on) during the end of larger than life, each backstreet boy got hooked up to those strings and were flew some more. each backstreet boy, had their own side that they were able to fly in. Kevin was on my side. (of course i wished it were Brian, but Kevin was still fine with me!!) he did some flips and waved to us. he was like 2 inches away from touching peoples hands. Then when the guys came dancing and singing on our side, Brian took a small rose from his pocket and threw it out to the crowd!! if only i was sitting one row closer and 6 seats to the left i would have caught it! can you believe that!! Then during "all i have to give" when they were doing the hat routine, brian accidently dropped his hat and it was easy to see it. they sang "as long as you love me" with the chairs of course. Then when they sang "Perfect Fan" 5 pairs mothers and daughters were picked and paired up with a backstreet boy. The last song that they sang was "I want it that way". after they were done they bowed at each side of the stage. They walked up to the middle of the stage and stepped on the platform and waved goodbye as the platform lowered under the stage. It was the best concert!!! i couldn't believe i was there less then 20 feet away from them! i hope i get to go next year! KTBSPA!!! luv, Kimberly

Thank-You DENISE for sending this to me!!

I found out 6:45 that I had tix and the concert started 7:30 and I had to drive a half hr to get them. So, we got there late, but asked the people in front if the opening act had come on yet and they said no. So the lights went out but we thought it was the opening act. So this thing starts coming out of ground with smoke and we were like "COOL OPENING ACT". The smoke subsided a bit, and then it hit us that it was them and then I just started shaking uncontrollably and crying and stuff. I just wasn't prepared, so when they flew all I remember saying is OMG its them. OMG there's Nick.

Well the stage is round of course, so there were like some half rows. The seats started right by the stage (back about 3 feet). We had row 14, but the stage was much closer than it sounds. It was, I'd say, 50 ft away from us. Well I was third seat from the aisle they came in from. They came up from the floor in a round thing with smoke and then they flew out on cables on skateboards. The round thing was 20 ft behind me so they flew right over me, I mean 10 ft over my head. The opening song was LARGER THAN LIFE of course.

As for the rest of the show, it was incredible. They sang just about all songs from Millenium except I NEED U TONITE plus all their hits from the first album, some other songs from the first album and also THATS THE WAY I LIKE IT.

When they did THE PERFECT FAN (dedicated to all moms), they brought up moms and daughters and each guy took a daughter by the hand and walked them around the stage.

Also during QPG the guys flew. We had Brian over us.

Kevin played piano for I think was probably a wardrobe change and then it went into BACK TO YOUR HEART.

They did the hat thing and the chair thing of course.

Some of the outfits they wore were black (leather I believe), white, and pink (which believe it or not they looked great in). They wore pink for Spanish Eyes, I'll Never Break Your Heart, and Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely which was the last set of songs before the encore (I cried during that song.) I couldn't hear what Howie was saying coz the girls behind me were screaming for Howie but it sounded like he was dedicating that song to their songwriter guy and Howie's sister. So it was sad.

Then they came out for last 2 songs: Its Gotta Be u and I Want It That Way. it was awesome. They introduced the band and dancers during IGBY, mostly Nick talking. They were wearing these pajama things which I didn't really care for. Although they had the confetti at the end, i just thought the finale would be a little bit better. But all and all it was a great show and they were incredible!!!!! The singing, the dancing, etc. was fantastic.

The only bad thing about being so close was u couldn't see what was going on on the other side of the stage. But u had the screens for that. Also, the guys didn't change positions enough. Luckily for me Nick and Brian (my first and second faves) were on our side most of the night. But my friend who likes A.J. hardly got to see him on our side. I mean don't get me wrong, they used the whole stage but at times each guy had like a certain spot.

Well I would definitely recommend this show to anyone!!!!!

Luv,

Denise

Thank-You MEG for sending me this!!

I was at the Backstreet Boys concert on September 17, 1999 in Charlotte. Here is what happened. The concert was unbelievable!! They came out of the dressing room through this little black tunnel connected to the door. They gathered in a black square on the floor that was about 8 feet tall. All the lights went out. They rose up out of the box to the theme of Star Wars. They were hooked to a harness and came up standing on what looked like miniature surfboards, (like the one Brian is on in the "Larger than Life" video). The first song that was done was, of course, "Larger than Life." The boys danced all around the stage and drove the audience crazy! They looked so good and their dance moves were so awesome! They did all their great songs like "Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely" and my favorite was when they all sang "Perfect Fan." They had a set of a few mothers and daughters on the stage at the time of this song. Each one took the hand of the mothers and daughters and walked them around the stage. A little later on in the show, they pretended they were done and went under the stage and stayed there for a few minutes. Just when you thought they were finished, they popped out with another song and in completely different outfits! The entire show was awesome! In the middle of the show, one of their outfits was all black leather and they strapped themselves to a harness and flew out over the audience and just hung there!! It was great! They were doing all kinds if acrobatics in the air and just having fun with the audience!! It was hard to believe that I was sitting there and seeing them live! Well, actually I wasn't sitting. I was standing and screaming the whole time!! The show was full of so much energy and talent from these five guys. It was amazing!

Thanks BURCIN for the great review!!!

Hey Hey! I went to the backstreet boys concert on September 29, 1999 in Philadelphia, Pa. My best friend and I had second row floor seats ($300 a piece, ouch!!!) and my mom and older sister had 14th row in the first level. We left at 3:30 for a 7:30 concert and it only took us 45 minutes to get there so I had plenty of time to FREAK OUT before the concert! We got there and walked around the parking lot a little, we talked to three radio stations. We then found the longest line to get in, my mom picked that one, but I was happy because it was right next to the area where the buses were parked. Lots of people were crowded around the fence. Around 5:45 we heard everyone screaming more then before. We ran over and saw Nick and Brian get off the bus! Nick was wearing a white bucket hat, he looked so cute! At 6:25 they started playing this little commercial over the loud speakers that started with parts of I Want It That Way and then had this lady going "Welcome To the First Union Center. Tonight its the Into the Millennium Tour with the Backstreet boys, blah blah" At 6:30 they finally let us inside. Let me warn everyone that is going, take lots of money for souvenirs! I had $100. I think I spent $75. I got a t-shirt, a program, a glow stick, a laminate pass, and a keychain. After we bought all of our goodies, we took our seats. I can't believe I was so close to the stage! On our side there were two of those fence type things that keep you back from the stage because of a camera (remember that for later!!!) Finally around 7:35 Mandy Moore came on stage. She sang a couple of her songs including my fav, "Candy". She was ok, except for the fact that she stayed on the other side of the stage! Her dancers were definitely hot. There was a small intermission, and then it went dark again, and 3 guys with hoods on came on the stage. Alot of people thought it was the boys, and two were missing!!! Of course, all of us who had read reviews knew it was EYC. They were definitely HOT!! In my opinion, the one that takes his shirt off all the time is a STUD! They did pretty good job singing, they could just emphasize Express Yourself Clearly a little less! That got very annoying after awhile! Alright now to what everyone wants to hear!! We were lucky enough that the black box was between the next section and ours, so the boys would be flying right over us! Around 8:45 we all figured out that the boys were waiting till 9:00 to come on stage. At 8:59, the screams were so loud I couldn't even hear my friend next to me! The clock hit 9:00 and the commercial ran. Everyone in our sections were turned around staring at the box, at the end of the commercial the place went pitch black! The dancers came on stage with there torches, then smoke started coming from the box. Then we saw what we had all been waiting for, the boys appeared from the box, Nick was looking right at us, and let me tell you! It annoyed me to death that they had to keep those straight faces, I've never screamed so loud for him in my life, and he couldn't respond! It drove me insane. The boys landed on the stage, and they took the boards away. They then did the thing where they go around and stop at each side of the stage. Man, they looked fine in there outfits!!! Right before Larger Than Life, we moved up to the fence with the little girls infront of us, so guess what?!?! We got FRONT ROW!!! Now to the songs.....

Larger Than Life: Definitely awesome!! This song is for the fans and they proved it! The dance moves were awesome and I've never seen the boys looking so good!!!

Get Down: (ok bare with me, I don't quite remember the concert, because its been a week!) Another high energy song, kicked butt!!!

As Long As You Love Me: The chair dance the chair dance!! My fav of all bsb dances!!!

Don't Wanna Lose You Now: Aww, the boys are so cute when they sing love songs!!!! How cute!!!!!

Quit Playing Games: Before they took off, Brian looked at our section, grabbed the wire thing and said they want me to do what?!?! It was so cute!! I also caught a stuffed dog during this song. That I had to jump over a row of chairs, and got in a fight with a 40 yr old man for! Geez!!!

Don't Want You Back: Ok, one word (well, two letters!!) AJ AJ AJ!!! The boy was awesome on that ladder, wow is all I have to say! I'd like to say some other things, but I'd rather keep this review G rated!! LOL :)

The Perfect Fan: This song made me wish my mommy had sat with me!!! Oh well!!! The little girl with Kevin sticks out in my mind. She was maybe 5 or 6, had pigtails in and had on a bsb shirt. She looked so scared!!! Awww!!!!!!

Back To Your Heart: My fav ballad from Millennium. Kevin kicked butt on the piano, the only bad part was the rest of the guys were on the other side of the stage, oh well!!!

Everybody(backstreet's back): This was pretty cool, my only comment, I will NEVER ferget seeing/hearing Nick sing "Am I sexual?!?!?!" 3 feet infront of me!! I answered his question, Hell yeah!!!! LOL

We've Got It Goin On: The usual jumpin bsb song with awesome dance moves!!!!!!

Thats The Way I Like It: Go Nick, he's the way I like it!! (lol, corny!!!) I believe this is the song where Nick fulfilled my dreams..hehe I've always wished I could see him do his thing where he dumps the water over his hair. He did it right infront of us. I have mad pics of that!! wowzers!!!

I'll Never Break Your Heart: I'd love to tell you about this song, but I bawled through it. (yeah i know, I'm 16 and I act like a teeny bopper!!!)

No One Else Comes Close: Another adorable bsb love song...awww!!!!

All I Have To Give: The boys still had on there adorable pink suits (sorry fergot to mention when they change!!) The hat dance was really good!! The guys know what they're doing!!

Show Me The Meaning.... : Ok, I have no idea what to write for this one. We all know how great the boys are!!!!!!

The boys then changed, they came back out looking sooo unbelievably adorable in pajama pants with dragons on them and they all had black shirts (with the exception of brian) with dragons on them.

Its Gotta Be You: A very good song to *end* on. They introduced the band and the dancers. And while Brian's dancers were doing there thing, he was breakdancing! ahh!!!

The Encore: I Want It That Way: Hearing the boys sing this song live made everything worth while. But during this song my life changed. Howie came down and was touching hands like they usually do. He got to our section, and he couldn't reach anyone because of the double fence (remember?) He got to me, and I was leaning against the fence, crying, and reaching for him as far as I could. He stopped and reached for me but our hands were 3 inches apart. So he stepped up on this box thing, grabbed my hand, smiled, sang a little, and then he let go and walked away! Wow! That definitely proves how much of a sweetie Howie is!!!

Well thats it!! My apologies for it being so long! And as my sister said after the concert, "that show could turn anyone into a bsb fan!!" Needless to say, my 20 yr old sister has traded her dave matthews band cd for the backstreet boys when she drives to college every day!! I hope everyone who's going has a great time! I know you will!! And to anyone who didn't get tickets, I hope my review did the show a little bit of justice. If you have any questions e-mail me at alibali22@hotmail.com or my aol sn is alibali22
