Jill gave him a look and rubbed her eyes. "Fine."
"What time did you get home?" Leigh Anne laughed at Jill's tired demeanor.
"Uhm, about two thirty-ish," Jill shrugged.
"What did you do that whole time?" Brian asked, awed that people could spend six and a half hours together on their first date and not hate each other.
Jill sighed. "Ice cream and the park."
Brian's eyebrows raised. "You what?"
"We got ice cream and went to the park," Jill elaborated slightly, sitting next to Brian and pulling his plate in between them, taking his fork from his hand. "And I'm stealing some food."
"But that's mine," Brian protested.
"You shoulda thought about the consequences before you had a kid," Jill replied, shoving the fork into a waffle piece and popping it into her mouth.
Brian laughed incredulously, not believing Jill had just said and done that.
"Shut your trap, old man," Leigh Anne smiled affectionately.
"Look who's talkin'," Brian retorted, referring to the fact that Leigh Anne was actually older than he was.
"Hey, how much more money do you need after the concert?" Jill asked.
"Uhm, roughly a couple thousand," Brian shrugged. "But that concert helped tremendously."
"Tremendously?"
"Sorry, ok? I forgot I wasn't in an interview," Brian sighed. "It helped a whole heap. Better?"
"I reckon," Leigh Anne smirked and Brian glared at her.
"Don't make fun of my Kentucky roots."
"Ok," Leigh Anne smirked yet again. "Can I make fun of the roots on your hair?"
Brian moaned. "That reminds me, Leigh, where's your stupid Sun-In?"
"I'm out," Leigh Anne laughed again.
"Uhm, Rok, why you got roots?" Jill asked. "And I got some Sun-In."
"At a photography session, they put Sun-In in my hair to make it lighter. So I got really blonde and now I got roots, as Leigh Anne so sweetly pointed out."
"You love me," Leigh Anne declared. "Now continue your little discussion about money, I love hearing about money."
Brian laughed. "As long as I don't have to worry about how much you're spending!"
"You know I don't go on shopping sprees unless you know about them," Leigh Anne replied, sticking her tongue out at her husband.
"If I can figure out how to make that money, it would really help."
Jill chewed a piece of egg and nodded thoughtfully. "Hey, did they record your performances?"
"Mm-hmm," Brian nodded, swallowing some orange juice.
"Make a CD of it and sell the CD," Jill shrugged. "For the fans who couldn't make it to the concert. Like the ones who live up in Alaska."
"You're brilliant!" Brian cried, setting the glass down with a loud thud.
"Brian!" Leigh Anne shrieked. "That's glass!"
Brian shrugged, then grinned conspiritorally at Jill. "Payback," He whispered.
"Brian Thomas Littrell!" Leigh Anne warned, jumping on Brian's back as he stood.
"My parents are prob'ly the only ones who are still in the honeymoon phase," Jill mused aloud.
"Your parents are also prob'ly one of the very few who have been married around a year and are still under thirty."
"Exactly my point," Jill shrugged and took a drink of Brian's orange juice before standing and placing the dished into the sink.
"Yeah, yeah, cry me a river," Brian shoved his lower lip out comically at her, getting up close into her face.
"Get off me," Jill laughed.
Brian pushed up a bit closer.
"I swear to God, Rok," Jill said, pushing him away.
"You swear to God what?" Brian shove his way back up into her face.
Jill clenched her jaw and glared at him.
Leigh Anne shook her head. "Bri, she's gonna pop you in the face and I'm gonna have to laugh at you, because you deserve it."
When Brian turned to stick his tongue out at his wife, Jill slipped under his arm and out of the kitchen before he realized what even happened.
"Jill?" Brian asked, whirling in a circle and looking up, down, left, right.
Leigh Anne hauled herself up onto the counter and smiled at him. "She's gone, Bri."
Brian turned and looked at Leigh Anne carefully. "Yeah," He said slowly, dejectedly, his shoulders falling. "She is."
Leigh Anne was at a loss. What did Brian mean by "Yeah, she is"?
Leigh Anne reached for Brian, pulling him back against the counter, leaving his back to her, and began rubbing the muscles in his shoulders, not saying anything.
Brian heaved a sigh and let his head roll forward, allowing Leigh Anne to rub his neck. He was glad she chose to be silent, he knew she was there, just by the way she pulled him to her and rubbed his back.
"I'm going to AJ's," Jill called, breezing out the door.
Brian again sighed.
Leigh Anne understood. Between AJ and Justin, Brian feared he was going to be bumped to second place. Wrapping her arms around his neck, allowing her arms to hand down, crossed over his chest, she whispered in his ear, "You're always gonna be number one."
