This is what the typical hippie, yippie, Rainbow, non-conformist supposidly looks like. Some Rainbow's look like that some do not. All are certainly not only into sex,drugs and rock-N-roll. Not that there is anything wrong with those things in moderation :-)
I am going to "try" to explain the Rainbow People. The Gatherings and some of the general ideas that most share.
Here are some things that most Rainbow's have in common

Love of nature and respect of Mother Earth.

The Gatherings central purpose is to pray for Peace.

No particular religion is ascribed to. You find everything from Christian, Pagan, Muslim, Buddist etc..

There are no leaders, all are equal and things are done by consensus.
5 A believe in non-volient solutions.

Anyone with a belly button can be a Rainbow, there is no membership because all are welcome.
Here are some of my understandings of the No leader idea.
The "tribe" doesn't need leaders they do things by consensus. If you go to a national Gathering you will find "volunteers" sitting in a circle talking over ideas. Everything is consensus based, anyone is welcome in the circle.
Of course there has to be people who volunteer for certain tasks but in no way does that make them a leader or a "member" of the Rainbow People. Because we all are welcome and so we all are equal.
People gather locally in there own region of the country some of these people like to give themselves a name for the rainbows in their area. Their little tribe.
There are no local tribes in San Antonio I am hoping to get some brothers and sisters together.
There are areas where people may become nude, but it certainly isn't a requirement the same with drugs. There is herbals and other natural drugs there just like in the rest of society.
There is a medical clinic, a volunteer peace keeping group, there are welcome groups, there are people cooking in the kitchens, there are people talking and singing and dancing. There are people playing music. Others roaming the trails, there is a Kids Village where you can camp with other families.
I am looking for people in the area who would like to start some activities in the San Antonio area. We could start by having a PotLuck at a public park. Please email me and I will get back with you and we can bring the Rainbow's of San Antonio together.
