The 7 Columbia Shuttle Astronauts

Their space shuttle exploded as they were re-entering the earth atmosphere on Febuary 1st, 2003. Friday at 8 a.m.

Altitude: 207,135 ft.

Speed: about Mach 18.3 (approx. 12,500 mph, faster than a bullet).

They were due to touch down and land safely in Florida, at 8:16 a.m. 16 minutes prior to that, we lost them.

They left this world, doing what they loved most. They were aware of the risks and were obviously willing to pay that price, if the situation arose.

On Febuary 2,2003 it has been reported that the dust from the explosion (over Texas) was showing up on radar in Florida.

They will never be forgotten
