Chapter 16

The guilt and shame caught up with him and forced him to pull away very abruptly. He looked with big and apologetic eyes into hers and bit his swollen lips together.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have done that," he mumbled. To his surprise she only smiled at him.

Cami knew she had to be brave now and tell him what she had wanted to get over her lips for months. "Why don't you let me be the judge of that?" she asked in a purring voice.

Buck's eyes widened. She wanted this!

"Uh," he stuttered and sought the right words; he found none.

"Ssshh," Cami shushed and placed a finger over his lips. She knew she had to do this, or he would slip away from her. All the boundaries and premarital bullshit she had been fed with since she was a child, was totally erased from her mind as she dove in for a second kiss; which turned out to be even better than the first.

Buck moaned and encircled her waist with one arm and let his other hand caress her face. He felt her right hand brush over his right ear which sent waves of electric pleasure down his spine. And down his crotch. He had to pull away again, or the sensual tingle in his every nerve would give him trouble.

"Why?" he whispered between two heavy breaths.

"Why not?" Cami asked back.

In one moment Buck's world crashed around him. So she was one of those women who would kiss any man, or boy, and then just forget about them. His heart sank and he turned away to hide the tears that rose to his again saddened eyes.

"Cami, let's just forget about his, okay?" he suggested and Cami didn't miss the shiver in his voice.

"What if I don't want to forget?" she asked and grabbed his chin.

"What?" Buck asked her back, looking deep into her eyes.

They were crystal clear and as honest as the day, and as much as he wanted to believe she had just kissed him for her own benefit, he couldn't. He felt her arm around his waist and one hand on his shoulder.

"That was the best first kiss any woman could ever get," she smiled into his face. "I don't want to forget it."

Buck's jaw dropped. He couldn't make sense of the past couple of minutes. His arms moved on their own and soon had her in a tight hug against his chest, but in his head the thoughts were flying uncontrollably. He was surprised to feel that overwhelming warmth in his chest; without any pain for once. He only felt an incredible happiness on the inside, and he knew his lips were parted in a smile. Only in his eyes the confusion showed. Cami took in a deep breath and let her head fall softly against his masculine chest. For the first time she breathed in the scent of his skin, his clothes and his being. Either way she turned it, it was pure heaven. Her eyelids fluttered and she sank into him deeply, hugging him carefully with uncertain arms. The only other male she had ever hugged was her father. And Michael of course, but only when he was younger. Nowadays no girl would get closer to him than one arm's length, since all females except mothers have this virus that kill little boys.

Cami smiled at the thought and let out a shallow sigh. She felt Buck's head on her shoulder and his arms around her grew stronger, tighter. He inhaled the scent of her soft brown hair and closed his eyes. Before his eyelids he saw the sweetest images of warm spring fields, cracking fires in the late summer night and bright starry skies. His head was almost exploding with ecstasy and he wasn't even being sexually pleasured. He had never felt anything like this even when he had sneaked out into the barn at night; trying to find completion. He saw the faces of women he had loved in the past. Or women he thought he had loved. None of them were even half as pretty as Cami was. Sure, he had stated that before, but now he couldn't even focus on any of the other women. Only Cami. Her name echoed through his head and he faltered somewhat; he was all dizzy from the intoxicating sensation of this moment.

Cami took a step back and looked into his eyes; worried at first, then calmly as she saw the love that burned there. Real love. She knew it was. She felt it. Not only in her heart when she looked at him, but it was everywhere in the air they breathed. Love. Buck smiled warmly at her and leant down to play with her lips. She smiled back and welcomed him close to her face, curling her fingers through his hair. His hands clasped her waist and he pulled her slowly with him down on his bedroll.
