The Marine is your bread-and-butter unit. Equally effective against both air and ground attacks, this versatile unit has been deciding factor in many missions. The Marines often back up Wraiths or Battlecruisers because of their powerful ability to mop up nagging ground-based air defense systems while their airborne counterparts clean out the skies.

The Terrans' most versatile units, Marines can rock and roll both on the ground and against airborne enemies.

Groups of Marine can take down small and medium-sized squadrens of light airships quickly with there rifles. Consider the Marine an alternative to the Missile Turret whenever and wherever building one is prohibitive. You can use Marines as mobile "Missile Turrets" and deal a heavy blow to ground and air units alike; the only proviso is that they must travel in groups of eight or more.

Defenisve Marines in Bunkers are difficult to beat.

Although the Marines can take a decent fight to enemy units, on the ground they really shine when they're stacked four at a time in a Bunker. This especially true in the Zerg levels where the Terran bases are hit with wave after wave of Zerglings and Hydralisks. A Bunker full of Marines with extended range and beefed-up attack walues can mow down the enemy indefinitely if the enemy attacks in small groups. A grid of Bunkers is virtually impenetrable.

Role: Armored Infantry Trooper
Armament: CMC-300/400 Powered Combat Suit 8mm C-14 "Impaler" Gauss Rifle

Marines are the first line of defense for most Terran colonies. A majority of them were at one time criminals or rebels who have undergone mandatory Neural Resocialization. Freed from any previous allegiances or ideologies, these fearless men and women are ready to defend Confederate interests with their lives.

The Powered Combat Suit worm by Confederate Marines is effective against most small-arms fire and provides them with full life-support and NBC (Nuclear/Biological/Chemical) shielding for operation in deep space and hostile environments. The C-14 Impaler Gauss Rifle fires 8mm metal "spikes" at hypersonic speeds. The rounds are designed to provide maximum penetration against all armor types. To preserve both ammo usage and minimize power requirements, the rifle uses a capacitor system to fire in short controlled bursts.
