Report, Conclusion
Day 3 - Well, not a lot happened our last day, Sunday. Since this was a Babylon 5 convention, there were lots of B5 fans here, and we got to see one fan have his hair done like a Centauri, you know, that weird fan-style hair. If you collapse wearing one of those do's, you cool everyone off on your way down. It looked pretty funny. He went back to a B5 fan table and when his friends (I think all women) saw him they began to screech with laughter. They were laughing for so long and so hysterically, that it was contagious. Michelle said they use some kind of shellac to keep the hair that way. I forget what kind. For a moment there, Rich, I was wondering what you would look like as a Centauri, since I wouldn't be caught dead with that hair myself. Bruce Boxleitner was the big name for Sunday. Boy, did he have a long line of fans for whom to do autographs. I had a hard time getting a really good and close-up look at him because he wore a baseball cap the entire time. But he seems to have held up really well. The other table next to ours belonged to the Bruce Boxleitner fan club. My highlight of the day was finding another dealer that had Prey pix, which I now have. :-) I couldn't believe it. I didn't expect to find any more and was just walking around the dealer's room passing some time, when I realized that I hadn't looked at the pix on the table to the right of me yet. All of the pix were in folders, instead of being laid out, and I searched for Prey. I saw PR..E...then wasn't sure if that was a Y or not. I thought, geez, it couldn't be, a whole folder? The handwriting could have been better, and I thought that it might have been some other word. Well, I pulled out the folder and opened it. My lord, it was Prey, and I started springing up and down like a jack-in-the-box. I was alone, so I couldn't embarrass anybody. Besides, the dealer seemed to be really amused. I was just excited, so excited. There were black and white pix and color too. Once again, they weren't new pix, but seeing them so big and so PERFECT (no stinking pixels) was glorious. There was a color shot of FBI Tom, the one of him standing with his arms crossed. Geez, I pretty near melted when I saw it. I LOVE that picture. I've got to do a magnet of it. That one will hold a place of honor on my desk. There was a b&w of Tom w/arm around Sloan in the chair, a color of same but w/him and Sloan looking at the camera. There was a terrific color one of Ed which caused even me to buy it. And there was a color one of Sloan leaning up against her apartment wall. Oh, and there was a group pic, too, color and b&w, I think. I pulled out 3 pix and reached into my pocket. No wallet. Heavens! I told the guy to please hold onto them and I'd be right back. Don't go anywhere. Well, I was excited. I flew down the hall to the Prey table. Told everyone there were more Prey pix, grabbed a $20 and flew back down the hall again. I then told the guy that more Prey fans would be there soon. And sure enuf there were. Happy Prey fans. The dealer told me the name of the company from which he got the pix and said they were the biggest distributors In the country. I think. It's hard to remember cuz I wasn't thinking clearly at the time. Here's the name and address: Jerry
Ohlinger's Movie Material Store, Inc.
There's
no email addy on the business card, but the dealer said that if you fax
them, they will reply by email.
Dragon*Con - July
1-4, 1999
From Sandy Lark - I only attended 2 of the 4 days...but managed to meet David Hedison. I looked for Kate Duncan at the SAAB table but there were only 2 people who didn't even seem to know if Kate was in the city....so I only accomplished the one task...David (real name Albert David Hedison) and he calls himself Al as he was billed in The Fly...said that his daughter (Alexandra Hedison - you know her as "Limo Lady") was in Europe right now...but did not volunteer any other info... you never know if they are close or not but it was an attempt... The DragonCon itself was hugely successful with many more stars than ever before coming out and we even had a good bit of local tv coverage and something in our local paper for a change...so in a few years we may even attract someone who is really currently on the air!!! Sorry my exploits were not more exciting but another friend who stayed up for the Masked Costume Ball said that the Klingons were really having a great time and even had a Miss Beautiful Klingon Contest and they also did a skit of Romeo and Juliet all in Klingon...so that would be something to see and hear even at midnight in the city of good and evil.… The Traveler Returneth - By: Chrestomanci Hello
again everyone! I am home again, tired but happy - I had FUN! What an experience!
:) Susan has already filled you in on most of it - alas, despite the best
efforts of my Prey tee, no one came up and said 'Hey, is that Prey on your
t-shirt?'. I left a stack of business cards on the flier table, though
- maybe someone found one. And I found the S:AAB table (finally!) and had
a very pleasant talk/drool session with them. :)
