Welcome to the Lowood Rural Fire Brigade
The History Of Lowood R.F.B
- The Brigade was formed in mid 1995 by founding member & 1st Officer George Shaw. He leads into action 17 Dedicated Volunteer Proffesionals & 3 Associate members. Lowood is situated Approx. 60 klms west of Brisbane, & services the needs of the Rural Community. Our Brigade is a Class 3 Urban Backup Brigade. Therefore we have a very close working relationship with the Auxillary Brigade & the State Emergency Service in Lowood.
- We currently run 2 Vehicles No1 old girl is an 1983 Acco 610 carrying 3000ltrs of water & crew capacity of 6. No2 even older girl is a 1972 Toyota Landcruiser carrying 450ltrs & crew capacity of 3 (If someone outside closes the door for us cause it's a bit squeasy).
- Lowood R.F.B is currently fundraising to build a shed on a block of Land that will be leased from the Esk Shire Council. So there isn't much to tell Station Wise, the vehicles are currently being housed by members at private residence's.
- If you have some spare time & enjoy the Great Outdoors,(putting out other people's fires) Warm conditions even in Winter! (feels worse in Summer) Abulutions Provided (from the hose - but you have to bring your own soap) Free Transport (if there is enough seats in the cab) Flexible Hours (no telling when you will get called out) Make New Friends (begging from total strangers, under the guise of fundraising, could lead to exciting new friendships. this would compensate for the loss of your old friends, who're sick of being asked to buy raffle tickets ect. to help the Brigade raise funds for Fire Fighting equipment) You Won't Pay Tax (that's right folks, no tax ! But who said anything about being PAID ? WARNING! This exclusive offer is not for the faint hearted. If you think you have what it takes to give time & effort to your Community Email the Secretary - Kerrie Crane for more information on joining the Lowood R.F.B.
