Final Version of Akaka Bill in December 2001 at End of 106th Congress, after several revisions while in Congress. This is the bill that passed the House and was poised for passage in the Senate, which President Clinton had promised he would sign. It would now be law except for a few courageous Senators who blocked it and a diligent Congressional staffer who found it hidden in the fine print of another bill (see below).
