SHEENA's SPORTS DREAM!

Each year, Sports Tours USA of Cary, NC, seeks athletes of many ages, from all over the country to participate in various sports worldwide.

Our daughter, Sheena, was selected by Sports Tours USA, to represent the USA in the International Invitational Aruba Tropical Cup Basketball Tournaments from July 19th-26th.

The fundraising is over. With the help of family, friends, and businesses in the community, we were fortunate enough to make the trip. It was beautiful. We stayed at the La Cabana All Resort, De Palm Island for snorkeling, a climb to the top of Hay Stack Mountain, a day of shopping at the capital of Oranjestad, natural rock formation and many, many days and evenings of tournament play. Sheena met one of the best ball players we had ever seen, Scarlet. She was a 24 yr old teacher who knew 5 different languages and was Aruba's MVP.

The Girls USA team consisted of 14 girls. The team was split into two teams afterone practice. One USA team brought home the gold and Sheena's team brought home the bronze after tieing with an Aruba team. They went by points instead of a tie breaker. Sheena made many new friends from around the USA and Aruba.

Sheena is currently a Senior at Wiscasset High School. Her passion has always been basketball even though she has played basketball, soccer and softball since grade 3. Her favorite all time basketball rememberance, was when she got to meet, Maine Legend, Cindy Blodgett at her last UMO home game against Western Kentucky. Sheena got to meet her and was totally excited. Cindy has always been Sheena's inspiration throughout her years of Basketball.
