My Concert Experience

Okay, I wasn't as fortunate as most of the other girls with websites because my seats weren't all that great. The concert was a long time ago on January 8th, 1999 at the Universal Amphitheater in Los Angeles. This was one of the first concerts for 'N Sync's new tour in California. The tickets sold out in about 3 minutes, which is pretty common now. Anyways, I went with two of my friends and we had mezzanine seats, another way to say formally, "the nose bleed section on the balcony." Just kidding, we weren't that far or anything cuz that balcony part sticks out over the bottom floor and it's not as bad as you think.

That week had been a horrible week for me and it got better because of the concert yet it got worse too. Y'see, I made this HUGE poster, 9 feet by 3 feet (pretty big, huh?), and I brought it, thinking I could hang it over the balcony....But, the security outside didn't let any posters in!! Can you believe that? So we had to leave it outside and had to pick it up after the concert....wait...it worsens...I had brought two cameras...and they took away the one with a zoom lens! Of course, you had to pick that up after the concert too....okay, we're in line outside and they open the gates...it is SO crowded. Gosh, girls pushing and everything...AND Screaming when the slightest little light flickers in the distance, thinking it's 'N Sync....I think the only good part of being outside was when Ben Savage came to pick up his tickets.

The concert went great..except when I went to pull out another roll of film...I dropped it and I couldn't find it! I'm so lucky, huh? Anyways, we had brought binoculars just in case we turned out to be really far away from the stage. They worked wonders because you could have a major close up on the guys. Chris had thrown out his towel and someone else threw out a rose. That one guy who says "Let's get ready to Rumble!!" was there and so was 'N Sync's manager...who said that the guys would be at this Country Star Cafe, which is very close by, after the concert. Since we're talking about after the concert now let's switch over to that now...

Okay, of course every girl there ran over to the Country Star, but you had to be an adult to go in to get autographs. It cost about $15 fot it too. So we didn't even bother crowding around because it's not as if we could get in...since I was 15 at the time. Well, do you remember the poster I told you about?....it's gone. Yup. I couldn't believe it....everyone else's posters were there...but mine wasn't. So there was only one conclusion to come to...someone took it. Not to be conceited or anything, but I worked hard on that poster and it turned out great, and it's one of the few things that actually turned out kind of perfect. I was majorly disappointed cuz I wanted to bring it home and keep it...I guess as a souveneir and to remind me how big a fan..a fan, not teenybopper, I am. My friends were totally dead after the concert, in that they were tired, but we still walked around the Universal Citywalk and ate at a pizza place.

It all turned out great though....because when we went back to school the next week, we felt better and talked about 'N Sync as if nothing bad had happened. We went through a lot to get to that concert...nagging our parents to let us go...trying to find a ride...making our own posters that were taken away...enduring the what seems like unbearable high pitched screaming..lol..I guess it was more like the concert was great and it ended at that.
