love sonnets

for this assignment we had to write shakespearean sonnets about modern love

Love in the Soaps

soap opera love, a bore? no never!
daily insane situations arise
impossible for those to be together
not a day passes, someone does not cry

love is a powerful, magical dream
brings you back from the dead, causes much pain
special connections call out, a bright beam
shines through, wipes away all guilt and all shame

every person in love, a beauty
attraction and desire play a large part
cannot find true love, unless a cutie
good looks a bonus, yet a broken heart

always with pain, happy couples a bore
must be some conflict, what people watch for

Sunnydale Love

Based on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”

friends yet soulmates, thought love lasts forever
in each others arms, feeling so alive
love not enough, could not be together
sad in this world, pure love cannot survive

need to feel, need for love, true and so real
love just a dream, empty actions for fun
no real emotions, difficult to deal
short, sweet relationship, over and done

first from attraction, obsession so strong
perfect pure passion, to love or to lust
pain and desire, could it be ever wrong?
feeling and comfort, true love not a must

love be it true, always full of the pain
for few precious moments, mostly insane

each quatrain is based on a relationship that Buffy has had

Buffy and Spike

could it be love? enemies forever
slayer and vampire, such passion and fire
fought for so long and friends they could never
desperate to feel, give into desire

physical first look, attraction so strong
love grew from obsession, one-sided though
spike’s love for buffy, because it is wrong
in his unbeating heart, lust for his foe

hate from love and confusing love with hate
perfect pure passion, to love or to lust
in love with evil, not such a bad fate
be it true happiness? is love a must?

comfort and feeling, suffering and pain
from hate be there love so true but insane
