“Taylor, where are my gym shoes like yours?”

“I think they are on your bed.”

Isaac climbed to the ladder onto his bed. “Ahhhh.” He grabbed them and sat on Taylor’s bed and tried putting them on. “These aren’t mine they are way too small. They must be Zac’s.”

Zac came out of the bathroom tripping, with tears in his eyes. “Ikey, my shoes don’t fit.”

Isaac went to his seven-year-old brother and handed him the shoes he had tried to put on. “I think these are yours. Those are probably mine.” Ike handed the blonde-headed boy the shoes.

Zac got Ike’s shoes off when Kayle walked in.

“Hey, Ike.”

Zac got up and ran to her and hugged the stuffing out of her.

“Hi there, Zac.” she pried him off of her. “Hey Taylor.”

He smiled a weak smile. She just didn’t understand that boy one minute he was as easily excited as Zac the next he was quite as a mouse.

“Everyone hurry up we are going to be late.” Ike’s mom yelled from downstairs. Kayle sat in front of Zac and helped him tie his shoes so they would be able to get out of there quicker.

They got to the fest and they were allowed to roam around until three. Then the boys had to perform. Kayle had never really heard them sing. Except for the occasional ride to the amusement park and the music was on and they all happen to know the words. Three came way to soon for them all. They got ready to go up on the stage Kayle wished them luck and she went and sat with the rest of the Hanson’s. She was blown away. They were so good.

Well I finally heard Ike sing yesterday. Him and Taylor can rock the house!! I couldn’t really hear Zac. They will be awesome someday. I’m so proud of Ike....

Isaac put down Kayle’s journal from nine years ago, tears filling his brown eyes. He missed his best friend terribly. He fiddled with the ring on his middle finger. She had given it to him when they had gone big. Taylor walked into the room and threw his coat on his bed.

“Hey Ike, how ya doin’?”

“I’m doin’ okay, Tayles.”

“I’m glad, I miss her too, Isaac.”

“Do you remember running around hitting her...”

“...with the sword? Yeah, I do. It’s one of those memories I try to hid in the back of my mind for fear of embarrassment.”

“I bet.”

“Well, mom wants us downstairs for dinner.”

“Okay.” Isaac put both journals on his bed.

“What are those?”

“I was comparing my journal with hers.”

Taylor shook his head. More long blond strands falling from his pony tail into his face. “Do they match up?”

“Surprisingly.” Isaac followed his younger brother downstairs into the kitchen they all sat down to dinner. “Isaac honey, Mrs. Sims dropped off a few things of Kayle’s for you. They are on the dining room table.

“Kay.” He inwardly groaned at the use of the slang word Kay. Like Kayle had written it was Tay and Zac’s nickname for her. He did the dishes and went back up stairs ignoring all of the stuff Mrs. Sims had brought over for him.

The Hanson’s went on vacation last month. Ike came home (they were gone for the entire month) I barley recognized him. He got soooo much taller and his voice let’s put it this way I when he put his hands over my eyes and said guess who, I thought it was a rapist/murderer who was going to kill me. I couldn’t believe how much he has changed yet stayed the same. He has gotten more attractive either that or I just have finally realized that he is a boy =) His voice still squeaks real bad when he talks. I don’t laugh at him though. I don’t want to hurt his feelings. Taylor and Zac laugh at him all of the time. He puts his head down and quits talking for the whole day. It makes me so incredibly angry. Because after Taylor and Zac are done with him he is so self-conscious he doesn’t want to talk and when he does he tries to control the squeaks as much as possible.

On a more up beat note, they have decided that they want to take their music to the next level. I know they can do it. They will do a wonderful job.

Well today was a pretty good day. My voice only squeaked once when we were practicing today YAY! This hell is almost over. Tay actually didn’t poke fun at me. He hasn’t poked fun at me in a couple of days. I wonder what Kayle said to the devil boy. I love Taylor to death, but I think sometimes he purposely likes to hurt my feelings.

July 2, 1993

Isaac asked me what I said to Taylor to make him stop making fun of him. I told Ike I didn’t say a thing. hehehehe In reality I cornered Taylor and told him how much he had hurt Ike’s feelings. I was surprised Taylor didn’t know it hurt Ike’s feelings. What I said truly upset Taylor. He got teary eyed. I didn’t mean to hurt his feelings. I told Taylor that Isaac keeps a lot bottled up with in himself. I think Taylor understood. He is much more intelligent than I once thought. It’s funny the Hanson family grows what seems like every year but absolutely nothing changes. When I met them Jessie was little and no soon had she quit being little Avery was born. I miss my family when I look at the Hanson’s sometimes. Especially my older brother’s. But at least I have Isaac.

Isaac put the journal down he shook his head, I knew she talked to Tay. He thought.

Zac then came in, and Ike watched his little brother. He’s not little anymore.

He was fourteen now and so grown up looking. His once baby round face was now angular and a chiseled jaw was under the fine silky strands of blonde hair. He looks like Taylor.

“Hey Prozac, what are you up to?”

“Mom wants us to find decent outfits for the photo shoot tomorrow.”

Isaac groaned. “What are you wearing?”

“I was hoping you would let me borrow your green pull over sweater.” Ike looked at Zac with confusion. “Remember the one you wore in the 'Where’s the Love' video?”

“Oh! Duh! Go ahead. I hope it’s not to small for you.” Ike smiled, but on the inside his stomach churned. >Right now is when I would need Kayle. My fourteen-year-old brother is taller than me, and better looking. Well why am I upset? Taylor has always been more attractive and for the last few years been taller.

Zac came out of the bathroom with the sweater and a black undershirt underneath. “It fits!” He announced. The sweater was still slightly big for Isaac. It did however fit Zac like a glove.

“Looks good.”

“You think?” Zac asked studying himself in the mirror.

“Yeah. Hey Zac do you remember when we would all dress alike for our concerts?” Ike smiled at the memory.

“Yeah!” Zac exclaimed enthusiastically.

“Do I want to know why you have that gleam in your eyes?”

“Why don’t we all dress alike for this photo shoot? Or at least one outfit pose thingie.”

Isaac shrugged. “Go ask Tay.”

He watched as Zac went from the mature fourteen-year-old to the totally hyper active child he once was. He ran from the room and all through out the house, and an ear piercing “TAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOORRRRRRR” could be heard.

Isaac just shook his head. “Some things never change.” he mumbled.
