Isaac tugged at his tie, which seemed to be choking him. "Forget it. I'm not wearing this." He said yanking hard at the tie, making it loose so that he could breath normally.
Taylor laughed. "Fine. You don't have to wear it." He looked at his watch. Giving a low whistle he looked backup at Isaac.
"Look, Stef and I have to go get the table to make sure that they have kept our reservations. I'm catching a ride with her father, and Zac already got a ride from Ryan. So you need to drive out there. Okay?" He asked.
Isaac nodded, "Okay. I'll be there in about fifteen twenty minutes." He replied throwing the tie into the closet and shutting it behind him.
After Taylor left, Isaac checked his appearance. Making sure he looked okay enough to sit in a fancy restaurant. Combing his hair again, he started o hum a bit.
When he was finished combing his hair he checked his watch. "So I'll be a little early." He said carelessly, as he grabbed his black leather jacket.
Sliding his arms into the sleeves he grabbed his wallet and the car keys. Quickly, walking downstairs, he kissed his mother good bye and went and got in his car.
Slowly backing down his driveway, he felt his stomach give a sudden lurch of warning. Ignoring it, saying that it was probably something that he ate, he continued to the restaurant where the unknown celebration was occurring.
"You almost ready, Shennan?" Stefani asked when she walked into their room.
Shennan turned around slowly. "I think so. Why? We still have plenty of time."
She shook her head. "Taylor and I have to go early. You know to make sure they kept the reservations. And since I am abandoning you, here's some cab fare." She said giving her a wad of cash.
"Okay, I'll meet you there in about thirty-minutes." Shennan said as she started pulling her hair up in a French twist.
"Oh, by the way," Stefani started, grabbing her jacket. "The reservation is under 'Launders.' " She said walking out the door.
Shennan nodded as she examined herself. Her black dress was perfect. Not too tight, and not too loose, and just the right length and the right style.
She smiled at her reflection, but frowned because she hated wearing dresses. This one she had borrowed from Stefani. Since she didn't own one herself.
Shrugging, she started putting on Stefani's shoes black sandals, with two-inch heels on them. She laughed as she fixed the straps to her feet.
Mykah walked in and smiled at her.
Shennan smiled back him. "What?" She asked curiously.
He shrugged, "Just wondering why you're all fancied up."
"I'm going to some formal dinner with Stefani and the neighbors." She explained giving him a small hug.
Hugging her back, Mykah started laughing. "So are you going to bring me anything back?"
She laughed out loud; "I doubt it. But I will let you stay up an hour later." She bargained.
Mykah grinned. "Deal." He said shaking her hand.
Shennan laughed again and left to call a cab. Five minutes later she was on her way to the restaurant.
Something's not right with this. She said holding her aching side. Something's wrong. She felt her stomach gave another sharp stab of pain. Something's very wrong. She thought nervously.
Parking his car, and walking inside, he noticed a waiter that seemed to have been waiting for him. After ushering him to his table the waiter said that the rest of his party will be there shortly.
Isaac nodded and ordered a small entrée as he waited for everyone else.
Looking at the huge restaurant, Shennan felt her insides turn in protest as she walked to the door and opened it. Once she was in, her insides started to calm down a little.
The cozy atmosphere took her by surprise. She started to feel comfortable when a waiter somehow already knew who she was and leading her to a table in the middle of the restaurant.
After a few moments and his small meal was brought, he noticed the same waiter coming towards him again. Finally. He thought as he looked at his watch. Only a few minutes late. No biggie. He rationalized. He wanted the meal to go as smoothly as possible.
When he looked up again, Shennan was staring at him. Her mouth was formed in an 'o' shape. She did not look happy.
"What's going on here?" She demanded sharply. It was quietly but forceful.
There goes the smooth part. He thought bitterly to himself. "I was going to ask the same question." He replied.
She plopped down in the seat across from him, and put her face in her hands when she placed her elbows on the table. "I think we've been had." She mumbled.
Isaac stared at her for a moment. "You think?" He asked sarcastically.
Shennan stood up quickly. "I hope you enjoy your meal." She said icily.
"Wait." Isaac said getting up. He said it a bit loudly and people turned to stare at them. "Sit down and join me." He said quietly.
"Why?" She asked not minding the audience.
"Just please. They obviously went through some trouble to get us here together." He explained. His eyes kept darting at all the people that were staring at him and her.
Shennan looked back at the people who were staring at her. She shrugged slightly and reluctantly sat back down in her chair. "So what are we going to do? Talk? Or ignore each other? Or maybe perhaps continue fighting?" She said as she looked at her menu.
After the waiter came and took their orders, Isaac decided to reply. "How about we call it truce for this evening?" He asked tiredly. "I'm too tired to fight, and I don't want to listen to silence either."
She stared at him strangely for a moment. "And do you always get what you want?" She asked.
Isaac smiled. "Always."
Could he get anymore stuck up? She asked herself as she drank some of her water.
"And I always get it when I want it too." He said still smiling.
Yep. She answered herself. "And what do you always ask for? More money? Or more fame?"
Isaac shook his head. "I don't need money, and I never asked for fame. I rarely ask for anything. But when I do, it usually does something to do with my family or music. Sometimes even school."
"How nice of you." Shennan replied. They were silent as they ate their meals.
When asked if they wanted dessert they both asked for chocolate mousse. Laughing at themselves, they started talking like friends and not enemies.
"What're you doing?" Isaac asked coming up from behind her.
She rolled her eyes at him. "Calling my psychic friend." She told him coolly, "I wanna know if I'm gonna get caught and go to jail for killing Stephanie and Taylor."
Isaac laughed. "Seriously."
"Seriously?" She asked him. "I'm calling for a cab."
"Don't bother." He said taking the phone from her and hanging it up. "I can drive us home. I do have the car." He said holding up his car keys.
"But what if I wanted the cabby to take me to the park so that I could walk around a bit and see some stuff that I haven't yet?" She questioned, raising an eyebrow speculatively.
"You're just trying to be difficult." Isaac said smiling at her.
Shennan shrugged. "I wanna walk around and check a few things out."
"Well, you shouldn't do it at night, alone." He warned.
"Oh, God. Who are you? My father?" She asked.
"You just shouldn't be out late at night alone." Isaac said taking her elbow and leading her outside.
"What are you doing?" She asked planting her feet firmly on the ground. Causing Isaac to stop.
"C'mon, I'll take us home, and we can walk t the park. It's not far from there." He said giving her arm another tug, and she followed.
After opening the door for her, Shennan waited for him to walk away.
He didn't. "Now what?" He asked impatiently still holding the door to his car open for her.
She smirked at him. "I can do this myself." She stated indignantly as she crossed her arms in front of her.
Isaac threw his hands up in defeat. "Fine!" He exclaimed and walked over to the driver's side and slid in next to her.
Scooting closer to her door, Shennan stared out the window. Deep in thought.
"What are you thinking about?" Isaac asked as he gave her a glance before looking back at the road."
"Nothing really. Just thinking about everything, but nothing." She replied still looking out her window.
The scenery passed by at a relatively steady pace, and all Shennan could think of was London and their flat.
