Shennan was walking around in the backyard.
Lunch was over and she wanted to relax a little bit on her own, since her father had basically told her to stop the slang terms and confusing them all.
"Well, if we werein England Father," She muttered to herself. "There would be no confusion.
Carrying her book, she went over to the hammock. She seemed to have grown an attachment to it.
Carefully laying down in it, she opened her worn out book of MacBeth. Like Mykah she was addicted to Shakespeare's plays.
After reading a few pages she heard someone trying to sneak up on her.
She sighed to herself. "You need to be more quieter when you sneak up on someone." She said out loud.
"I wasn't trying to sneak up on you." Isaac replied.
Shennan looked up from her book. "Are you going to try and attack me like you did last time?" She asked.
Isaac stared at her for a moment. "That was an accident. I thought you were Stefani. She didn't tell me she had a twin sister." He defended.
"She didn't tell you because she didn't know." Shennan said turning back to her book. "It proves to be difficult to explain something you know nothing about."
Trying to control his temper, Isaac replied, "You must have that problem a lot."
"Good one, Isaac." She said not taking her eyes off the page. "Did you come up with that one by yourself? Or did Zac and Taylor help you with it last night?"
"Shennan, are you going to read again?" Zac asked as he was walking with Mackie and Mykah.
Looking over at the trio, she smiled. "I can, if you like." She said sweetly.
"What's this about reading?" Taylor asked as he and Stefani came out of the tree house, not even five feet away from her and Isaac.
"Shennan's gonna read again." Zac stated loudly as he possibly could.
Ryan walked outside noticing everyone was gathering around. "What's happening?" He asked Isaac.
Isaac looked at him. "Shennan's going to read to us." He said in mock happiness, as he clapped his hands together and jumped up and down.
Shennan ignored him, and scooted over to make room for Mykah, Mackie, and Zac on the hammock. Mykah was practically sitting on her, and Mackie was on top of Zac. "I don't know if this thing is going to hold us." She said a little nervously.
"Well, it does look like you have gained weight." Isaac mumbled to himself.
He wasn't quiet enough, because she heard exactly what he said, and gave him and sly evil smile. He went silent.
"So start already." Stefani said as she leaned back up against Taylor, who was sitting up against a tree that helped keep the hammock up.
Ryan leaned up against the other one, and Isaac tried to slip away.
"Where are you going, Ike?" Zac asked. "Stay and listen to Shennan read."
Shennan smiled at him. "Yeah, Isaac. Stay and listen for a while. You might actually learn a few things."
"If it's possible." She added quietly, like he had.
Shooting her a warning glance, he sat next to Ryan against the tree. As much as he tried not to pay attention, Shennan had a way to make it hard to resist. He found himself deeply interested in what was happening in the play. Even though he had already read it before.
Shennan was finished reading to them and wanted to relax again. This time by herself, and no interruptions. Taylor said that she could use their tree house and that no one would bother her. She was completely grateful and accepted his offer eagerly.
Sitting in the tree house she was reading to herself. In the peace and quiet. Occasionally she would flip to the back of the book and write down a few thoughts or a few starting lines to a poem or something that she just needed to say.
After writing down a few lines she started to read what she had written a few years ago. It was when Mykah's mother had died.
He had seen it happen, and never spoke to anyone but her since. Mrs. Launders had died of a heart attack. She never had a strong heart and having Mykah seemed to have made it weaker. When she overworked herself one day, she collapsed on the floor.
Mykah, being only three, thought that she was playing a game. He pushed her a few times and laughed telling her to get up. After a few minutes he started to get worried and waited until Shennan had come home from school and hour later to tell her what had happened.
She had called the hospital and told them what had happened. After Mykah had to tell them what had happened over and over again he gave up on talking.
Shennan sighed and read what she wrote the day she found out that she was coming to the States. Once she got here she knew she was never going back to London to live. Her home was to become this one here in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
She started to write some more when she heard someone walking beneath her. She ignored it and continued writing.
"Hey, Zac?" Taylor said smiling.
Zac looked up at him. "What?"
"What do you think of Shennan?" He asked. He saw Isaac stiffen at her name.
"She makes Hamlet and MacBeth more interesting than I do." Zac replied. "She seems cool. Her accent totally rocks." He said grinning.
Taylor nodded. "What about you, Ike?" He asked going over to his brother's bed.
Isaac looked away from the laptop. "Huh, what?" He asked.
Taylor rolled his yes. He knew that Isaac was listening when he was talking to Zac. "What do you think of Shannon?"
"I don't know." He said shrugging. He went back to his laptop. "She's annoying, immature, and really… really… Ah, what's the word I'm looking for?" He asked snapping his fingers.
"Likable?" Taylor asked smiling.
Isaac gave him a disapproving look. "Uh, uh. She's unlikable to me. We can't even talk without fighting, Tay."
Taylor's smile turned into a grin. "Okay, Ike." He said walking to the door. He turned around and he laughed. "Thanks." He said before he left.
Isaac looked at Zac questioningly.
Zac shrugged. "Don't even ask me, he's your brother." He said shaking his head.
Isaac shrugged also and went back to his laptop. He looked up again thinking about why Taylor was asking him what he thought of Shennan.
She's a complete witch. He thought to himself, before he forced his concentration back on his laptop.
"So what'd he say?" Stefani asked as Taylor walked down the stairs smiling.
Taylor laughed as he sat next to her on the couch. He kissed her cheek quickly. "He likes her. He says he can't stand her, but he likes her."
Stefani laughed also. "Mine turn?" She asked.
Taylor nodded. "Your turn. She's still in the tree house I'm think." He replied standing up as Stephanie did.
Giggling, Stefani bobbed her head up and down. "I bet she feels the same." She said leaving.
"Hope so." Taylor said laughing to himself.
"Are you trying to set Ike and Shennan up?" Zac asked from behind him.
Taylor turned around and smiled a Zac innocently. "Moi?" He asked.
Zac laughed, "Yes, toi."
"Then yes." Taylor said laughing again.
"Good luck." Zac said as he started to leave. "They'll kill each other." He said as he stopped at the back door.
Taylor nodded his head. "Maybe. But they might make out to be a very funny couple."
Zac smiled. "Let me help." He begged.
"Okay, here's what you gotta do," Taylor started in a low whisper. Just to be sure that no one could over hear them.
