Chapter XIV

I was walking around outside, when I saw my house from across the street. Staring at it, I started to walk towards it. All the lights were on when I walked inside. Yet, it seemed like no one was home.

For some reason I started walking upstairs and into the bathroom. That's when I saw myself. I was standing in front of the mirror over the sink and staring deeply into the refection's eyes. My eyes.

But they weren't my eyes. They were blue, and not the dark violet that I have. I continued to watch as this scene proceeded. I saw the girl turn to me and smile. I smiled back nervously. I wondered what she was doing in here all alone staring at her reflection.

Then I saw it. In her hand she had a knife. It glimmered in the light. I stared at the knife for a moment, then turned my attention back on the girl. She was still smiling, so I smiled back.

As if in slow motion she started to slice at her left wrist. I screamed at her and she stopped. I ripped the bottom of my shirt and tried to press it against the cut.

But she screamed and started running. I was worried about her, so I started running after her.

We somehow ended up in the small forest behind our house. The branches and the rocks cut deeply into my skin. My feet were bleeding as I noticed I noticed I had no shoes on. The pain was sharp and unbearable, but I continued to run after the girl.

I saw a clearing and I breathed a sigh of relief. It cleared out to a street. The girl whom I was chasing was staring at the road.

I stepped closer to her and called out to her. "Stefani!" I heard myself yell. That's why she looked like me, but had different colored eyes. She wasn't me. She was Stefani, my twin. Again I stepped a little bit closer and she saw me do this. She started to back away onto the road. I told her to stop and to come back. But she just smiled at me.

Getting really scared at what she might do I started to back off a little. Asking her to come back off the road. She just stared and smiled at me. And then I saw it coming. A car, which was coming too fast, it headed straight for Stefani.

I yelled at her to move, but she didn't. And I didn't move to help her. I just watched as the car came closer, and closer, and finally it connected with Stefani's body.

Shennan screamed and jumped up. She tried to take in her surroundings, but nothing registered, and she started running.

Everyone was startled by her ear-piercing scream and tried to get close to her. Isaac, Taylor, Ryan, and Stefani all ran after her.

Shennan just continued to run. Confused by what was happening, and scared by what did happen.

When she felt dirt beneath her feet she stopped running. She had a few moments to try and clear her thought before everyone caught up with her.

Once she saw Stefani she immediately hugged her tightly. "Don't you ever do that to me." She whispered in her ear.

She pulled back. "Me? You were the one who woke the dead with that scream." She replied.

"What happened anyways?" Isaac asked as we all trooped back inside the house.

Closing her eyes, Shennan took a deep breath and the image of Stefani's body flying up on the hood of the car replayed itself again.

Shivering at the thought, she felt Isaac's arm wrap around her to keep her warm. "I just had a bad dream that's all." She replied shrugging.

"Just a bad dream?" He asked concernedly.

She smiled weakly up at him as they went back into the living room and sat down again. Allowing herself to snuggle up against him, she listened as he breathed. "Sorry." She whispered softly.

Isaac tightened his grip on her. "It's okay." He whispered back kissing her forehead.

Stefani watched as Shennan calmed down a little. I wonder what made her so scared. That was no ordinary nightmare. She looked completely freaked!. She thought to herself as Taylor wrapped his arms around her.

Leaning into his embrace Stefani told herself that she'd ask her about it later on.

Watching as the movie ended, Isaac and Taylor both got up saying that it was time for them to go home.

"Shennan? What happened tonight?" Stefani asked softly as they walked up the stairs to their room.

Shennan went rigid at the thought of her nightmare again. As hard as she tried she just could not block it out. She shook her head, hoping to make her nightmare fall out. It didn't. "I had a nightmare." She said lying in her bed.

Stefani lay in her bed. "Duh." She replied rolling her eyes in the dark. "I knew that part. But could you vague it up for me?" She asked.

Swallowing the lump in her throat, Shennan replied, "I dreamt that you tried to kill yourself. I thought that you were me at first, but then I noticed that the eye color wasn't right. You slit your wrist and I tried to stop the bleeding by tearing a piece of my shirt off, but you just ran. I chased you through some woods and then we ended up by some road. I told you to come back, but al you did was smile and back up onto the road. I saw this car coming and yelled at you to come back. You continued to smile and stayed on the road. And I didn't try to stop you. I just stood there and watched as the car hit you." She said as she started to cry uncontrollably.

Instantly, Stefani got out of her bed and went to hers. Shennan sat up and hugged her tightly. "I thought I lost you." She whispered as she started to calm down a little.

Stefani held her tighter. "You can never lose your twin." She said softly. "Never." She repeated. Then she smiled slightly. "We might misplace each other once in a while, but we can never lose each other."

Shennan laughed a little and sniffled slightly. Quickly she wiped away her tears. "Thanks." She said smiling at her.

Smiling, she replied. "Your welcome. Now c'mon." She said as she stood up. "Get some sleep."

Nodding, Shennan rolled over on her bed. In seconds she passed out from the exhaustion her nightmare brought on her.

Stefani on the other hand, did not go right to sleep. She watched as her twin slept peacefully. Sighing softly, she rolled over also onto her side. "It was just a dream." She thought to herself before she fell asleep.

I was walking through this graveyard. It was late and I was so tired. Sitting down on a tree stump, I rested for a little bit. I didn't know for sure, but I thought I saw someone walking through the graveyard. They had on this heavy black trench coat it seemed. As if they wanted to conceal their identity.

Slowly, I followed this stranger. For some odd reason I felt that they didn't belong here. And I felt this closeness to them, even though I didn't know who they were.

Trying to catch up to them was hard, because it seemed like the fog that had just started to rise didn't want me to catch up the stranger.

Deciding that it would be better if I had just stopped and waited for the fog to clear I would be able to see the stranger. Shortly after I stopped, the fog did lift. I started looking around when I saw the dark figure kneeling down.

I chose to walk up on them and ask why they were there. Getting closer and closer I could tell it was a female. The figure was small like a female, so it had to be.

Calling out to this girl I felt my voice give out. Instantly my hand touched my throat. As I pulled my hand away I noticed blood on my hand. I opened my mouth to start screaming, but nothing came out.

Suddenly the figure whipped their heavy coat off and lunged at me with knife gleaming silver in the moonlight. I stepped back and started to fight this figure. I wasn't able to focus on their face, but I was on the eyes. A dark violet.

I stared at these eyes that had become as familiar as my own. "Shennan!" I was able to scream out with my throat burning painfully.

I fought for control over this figure that posed as my twin. The figure laughed, as I was able to stab them with the knife it held.

I stepped back and examined what I had done. The figure brought on the shape of my twin before my eyes. Shennan stared up at me with empty eyes and asked me why. Why I had killed her.

I stared in horror and went to her side. Lifting her head slightly, she continued to ask me why. I cried, because I was afraid that I had lost my twin and my best friend forever. I started screaming and crying over the pain I felt at that moment. Then I felt the earth shake beneath me.

"Stef, wake up!" Shennan yelled as she shook her sister.

Stefani woke with a start. She felt hot tears sliding down her cheeks and her throat felt raw from her screaming she figured.

Instantly, she grabbed Shennan in a tight hug, and Shennan hugged her back. "It's okay. It's okay." She repeated soothingly. "Are you all right?" She asked when Stefani pulled back.

She nodded once. "I had a nightmare." She said still a little jumpy and frightened from it. Her voice quavered slightly.

Shennan nodded her head and hugged her again. "It's okay." She said again. "Nothing's wrong. We are both okay now."

Soon they were back in their own beds. Stefani refused to talk about her nightmare. Thinking that if she actually said it, it might just come true.

--------------- Before anyone asks, Yes, I did actually have these nightmares. I get most of my story ideas from dreams and nightmares that I do have. Everything I have ever written that was drama and traumatic happened in a nightmare of mine.
