"It's not fair!" Shennan shouted as she walked out of the doctor's office.
Isaac instantly stood up. "What? What's wrong?" He asked worriedly.
Then he saw what she was so upset about. Shennan now how about an inch long stitch scar above her right eye.
Giving him a hard look, she snapped, "Are you done staring now?"
"Come on." He said putting his arm around her shoulders. "It's not that bad. You can barely see it. And in time, no one could tell you had stitches there." He said trying to comfort her.
It wasn't working well; and she shrugged off his touch, and followed him to his car. Silently got in as he held the door open for her.
The car ride was mostly in silence as Shennan just sat there and fumed. While Isaac was thinking of something he should say. Everything he wanted to say right then would've come out wrong, and she would've blown up at him. So he settled for the silence also.
Taylor and Stefani were curled up on the couch, in each other's arms. His grip tightened a little bit. "This is nice." He said nibbling on her ear lobe.
Stefani giggled. "No parents. No siblings. Seems too perfect." She said pulling his head down, so that she could kiss him.
The phone started ringing, and they both pulled away reluctantly and glared at the device.
"I spoke too soon." Stefani grumbled as she grabbed for the cordless phone on the stand next to the couch.
"Yes." She said harshly into the phone. Her facial expression softened, as well as her voice almost instantly. "Oh, hi Mom." She said looking at Taylor with wide eyes.
"Umm, yeah we're all fine. Shennan went to get the stitches removed, Ryan went to see Melanie, and Mykah's in the backyard playing with Zac and Mackenzie Hanson. Yes, and I'm right here talking to you." She said rolling her eyes. "Okay, love you too. Yes. Ummmhmm. Bye, Mom. Tell dad I love him for me. Yes, Mom. Bye, bye. Bye." She said hanging up the phone quickly.
She groaned as she leaned back up against Taylor. "Even miles away from here, my mother always seems to know exactly when to interrupt a good moment." She said as he wrapped his arms around her.
Then she heard small feet shuffling through out the house. "Ahhhh." She screamed as she stood up. "We're never going to be alone!" She shouted as she went to see what was going on.
She came back a minute later; "Okay, Mykah and Mackie are back outside with Zac. And I'm less than twenty dollars richer now, because I had to pay Zac to watch them." Stefani said as she once again leaned back up against Taylor.
He laughed and put his around her, again. "You definitely spoke too soon, Stef." He whispered in her ear, as he started to kiss her neck.
Stefani smiled. "I think it's paying off now." She said as she shifted so that she could kiss him back.
They heard the door open and Shennan walked in. She smiled at them; "I'll just leave now." She said as she started walking out.
Then she stopped and turned around. "How do you know if or when you like or love someone?" She asked questionably.
Taylor tilted his head to one side and thought for a moment. "Basically you just know it."
Stefani nodded in agreement. "You're able to feel it when it happens." She smiled at her. "In yours and Isaac's case, you two will practically have to be over half-way there, before you even think about it."
Shennan rolled her eyes. "Thanks." She said sarcastically before she stalked out of the room.
"One more interruption and I'm gonna throw a major fit." Stefani mumbled as she re-settled herself against Taylor.
"Well, it's not all that bad. At least your parents are on their honeymoon. Mine are still at home." Taylor said as he once again put his arms around her, and softly kissed her cheek.
Then as Stefani was about to respond to him, when Ryan decided to walk in with Melanie and Isaac.
She stood up quickly. "That's it! I give!!" She shouted.
They all just stared at her.
"It's been a day." Taylor said laughing, as he stood up also.
Ryan nodded his head. "Yeah." He said uninterested. "What's for dinner?" He asked as he led Melanie further into the living room. Isaac slowly followed.
"I don't know. Whatever it is, you are not cooking it." She pointed out shrugging.
"Okay." Ryan said easily. "Have someone else cook it. Or order out. Just do something 'cause I'm starved." He said placing his hand on his stomach for emphasis.
Stefani rolled her eyes "Oh, there's something new." She replied sarcastically.
Isaac gave her a strange look, then cleared his throat. "Where's Shennan?" He asked.
Collapsing on the couch, she shrugged. "Probably outside with Mykah. Zac and Mackie's out there too!" She shouted as he walked away.
"With twenty dollars." She muttered under her breath.
Ryan and Melanie walked into the kitchen, and Taylor sat down next to her.
"Don't get too comfortable." She mumbled to them. "Before we had a chance at time alone. Now we have a full house and zero chance." She stated frowning.
He pulled her close and kissed her. "Well, we at least had some time together." He murmured.
Stefani kissed him back. "Yeah." She said as they continued to kiss.
"Stef!" Ryan shouted from the kitchen.
"Ah!" She screeched. "What?" She shouted, not leaving Taylor's arms.
"I need your help to fix dinner!" He shouted back at her.
"Ah, man!" She whined as she stood up.
Taylor stood up too. "I'll help you guys out." He said hugging her and giving her a quick peck on the lips.
She pulled him in for a more passionate kiss. "Okay." She said smiling when they pulled apart.
Taylor smiled back.
Shennan was watching as Mykah and Mackie were playing in the makeshift sandbox. She started to draw their portrait when she heard someone walk up on her.
Closing the book quickly, which she and Stefani now shared as they drew their portraits, she pretended to just look at the two boys playing in the sandbox laughing.
Turning around she saw Isaac standing behind her. She smiled up weakly at him and scooted over on the log she was sitting on, so that he would have space to sit down.
"What were you doing?" He asked as he sat next to her.
She was about to spit out some sarcastic response, when she saw the look on his face. He seemed opened and closed at the same time. Bold and yet a little shy.
Whatever she saw made her stop to think for a moment. Then she smiled softly. "I was doodling. Like Stef does sometimes."
Isaac smiled back, because he got a real answer and not a callous remark. "Can I see?" He asked holding his hand out for the book.
Shennan thought about this for a moment, then nodded, and handed him the book.
He opened the book to the last page and looked up at Mackie and Mykah. He smiled at the resemblance. "Doodling?" He asked looking at her.
Shrugging she replied, "It's a doodle. Stefani does better. Plus, she is a serious drawer. I do it for fun." She said looking at her drawing too.
"Taylor!" Stefani screeched as she dropped yet another egg. Making it the third one she dropped.
"Sorry." Taylor said smiling at her, as he bent down to pick up another egg.
She started laughing. "Okay, we cannot cook together." She announced smiling at him.
Taylor shrugged as he threw the egg remains away. "Well, at least we tried." He said as he took her in his arms for the who knows how many times that evening.
Stefani's smile widened and she kissed him as he had been doing while she was trying to crack eggs in a bowl.
They continued to kiss when Isaac, Shennan, Mackie, and Mykah came in from outside.
Shennan covered her mouth with her hand and started laughing. "Sorry, guys." She said as she continued laughing. "Didn't mean to catch ya snogging."
Isaac started laughing too as Mackie and Mykah made faces at each other.
Stefani brushed her hands off and smiled. "It's okay." She said brightly. "We tried to make dinner, but we didn't get very far."
"No dinner?" Ryan asked as he and Melanie walked back into the kitchen.
Isaac looked at Taylor. "I think it's time to call on our parent's for dinner arrangements."
Taylor laughed and nodded. Everyone agreed and headed over to the Hanson's house and was greeted by a wonderful aroma of Italian sauce and garlic.
