"Arie?" Isaac questioned, stepping back and opening the door wider.
Shuffling his family forward, Arie stood to shake his brother-in-law's hand. "Thanks for inviting us, Ike."
Isaac smiled, his eyes not missing the shock of premature grey hair. "No problem." He shrugged when Essence and their kids pushed on by to be greeted by Randy and the girls.
He nodded towards the library, and Arie followed.
"After what Rosie told me, I just wanted everyone close, you know?" He asked as they entered the large room.
Arie nodded in understanding and greeted Taylor and Zac, shaking hands with them as well. "I can't tell you how much I appreciate it."
"Probably not as much as you're going to appreciate what Ike's cooking up." Mackenzie commented wryly. "I have to admit, even he kinda scared me on this one."
Ignoring the statement, Isaac moved around the room. "Syrus obviously never counted on me loving his daughter." His shoulders shrugged, "his ignorance will cost him alone now."
Glancing away from the window he continued on. "Mr. Whithington is being very considerate at the moment, and singing his heart out once he realized where his client is." He shook his head at the questioning looks, they really didn't want to know. "He's also placing a few people in Syrus' firm as well as yours, Arie."
"As far as we can tell, the man skimming in your firm, Arie, is being paid to do so by Syrus." Isaac saw his hands grip the back of the chair he was leaning on. "He managed to invade my business anyhow." He growled lowly. "That two-timing, son of a b-"
"You won't feel better calling him those names." Taylor interrupted, as he reclined rigidly behind the desk. "We've all used the common, uncommon, and the made up to get our anger and frustration out."
Zac laughed scornfully, "And it really didn't work or help out any."
Looking around the room, Arie realized, for the first time, he was in a room filled with family. He smiled weakly, "I'll take your word for it."
Isaac returned the smile and nodded. "We're going to show this off as, you being here for Taylor's wedding."
Arie glanced over at Taylor and nodded as well. "Congratulations."
Scoffing, he shook his head in awe. "We're talking about destroying a father-father in law, and yet congratulating me on getting married."
Zac clapped his shoulder. "Gotta find happiness in what we can, when we can."
It was silently, but unanimously agreed that Zac was right, which pleased him greatly.
"Taylor's and Randy's wedding is going on as plan. You and Essence, are here under the guise of being part of the wedding, and helping out with the girls while we're all working on this major event."
Taylor laughed, "Well, I'm aware that it's a major event in my life anyway."
The group muffled their laughter slightly but was lightened of their burden a little, at least for the moment.
"Time to teach Syrus the golden rule." Isaac murmured when they sobered once again.
"He who has the gold, makes the rule isn't it?" Zac asked, feigning his shock to dramatic degrees. Then grinned, "I love being facetious."
At Taylor's odd look, his grinned widened. "Word a day toilet paper."
It explained a lot, especially when Mackenzie started whistling and looking around the room. His face deceptively guileless.
"I'll give you and this Mr. Whithington every resource I have, Ike. Whatever else you need, just let me know." Arie offered.
Isaac nodded, and they shook hands once more. "We just might need it."
"With all forces combined," Zac intoned behind them. "They create, Captain… Destructo! Dun, dun, dun."
"Can it, Zac." Taylor demanded, as he grabbed him by the shoulders. "Now come on. You and Mini You can help me with the kids and give Randy and Essence a break now."
"Hey, it's Me, and Bigger Me." Mackenzie corrected as he followed behind docilely.
"You sure you're ready for this kind of battle?" Arie asked softly as they watched the trio move off into the living room.
Isaac was thoughtful for a moment, then nodded. "I am. I wasn't completely sure if I would be in the beginning, but I know I am now."
Arie clapped his shoulder. "I'm glad. Because I've been wanting to do this since I was twelve, but I never had a strong enough, or capable enough partner to help."
Isaac turned and smiled.
