# 9

Shannon woke up to Shana hitting her in the face with her favorite shirt. Pushing Shana away Shannon sat up. "If you think that I am wearing that today after you wore it yesterday, you are so wrong!"

Shana laughed. "Hey, I didn't expect you to, but I do expect you to get your butt up so that we can go to the studio. And finish recording." She added when Shannon gave her a weird look.

"I know what we do in the studio, tard. Remember I'm the one that needs to draw everything out in crayon for you to understand."

Shana sighed. "And that last drawing you made, it really sucked. You need to come up with better ways to draw Hanson besides yellow for hair."

"Hey, I had the height too!" Shannike shouted laughing. Then she stopped. "Hey. Wait a minute, I haven't drawn anything."

"Duh, Sparky." She said rolling her eyes.

Shannon giggled a little. "Hey, I just woke up. Give me a few hours before I can answer or understand anything."

"You're gonna need more than a few hours." Shana said shaking her head and giving Shannon a pity glance.

Shannon hit her with her pillow. "Not funny!" She shouted before she ran off to the bathroom.

Shana chased after her. "Not fair! I was up first! I should get the shower first!" She shouted as she pounded on the closed and locked door.

She heard laughing on the other side of the door. "You think that you would've learned to take a shower before you woke me up by now!" Shannon shouted back at her. "It's your turn to cook breakfast anyway!"

Shana grumbled. "Is cereal okay?!"

"Yea!" Shannon said as she turned the water on in the shower.

"I just love making breakfast." Shana said sarcastically as she talked to herself. She looked at their small kitchen. "Hmm, maybe if I make something a little different." She said getting a glint of amusement in her eyes.

~ Later On That Night ~

Shana and Shannon were waiting for a taxi. They had told the Hanson's that they would meet them at the restaurant.

"I still can't believe what you did this morning." Shannon grumbled as she shook her head back and forth in disbelief.

Shana shrugged. "Like I knew that was going to happen!" She defended herself.

The cab pulled up and Shannon and Shana got in.

"Let's not worry about it now." Shannon said wearily. "I have a weird feeling that their parents know what happened about our family and that weak ass story I told them."

"Are we talking about what you told the guys last night." Shana asked.

"Yeah." Shannon said sighing. She gently rubbed her eyes, careful not to rub out her contacts. "I'm getting so sick of everyone wanting to know who we are. Can't they just accept what they see? Why do they have to dissect everything?" She asked to no one in particular.

Shana was silent for a moment. Then she spoke up; "Maybe they just wanna become friends." She offered.

Shannon slowly turned and looked at her best friend and now days her sister. "If we become friends now, do you know what's going to happen when they find out that I lied to them, because I wanted to give us more time to spend together? Do you know how they will react? Because I sure as hell don't. Do you think that they want to be friends with a liar?" She asked in a rush.

"Calm down." Shana said with wide eyes. She was afraid at how Shannon was freaking out on her.

"I'm afraid that the next time I wake up I'll be home and you'll be gone, and our music will be gone, and everything that we have worked so hard to get will be gone. And I won't be able to do anything to get it all back." She said fearfully.

Shana grabbed Shannon into an awkward hug. "We still have time. And no matter what, our album will still be out, and at least almost half of the population of America has heard 'Let's let Go.' I think we're gonna get remembered for a while." She said smiling.

"And what about us? Our friendship? What happens?" Shannon asked. "When we get split up again? You know we're going to go to some social service program because our families are going to be accused of unfit parenting."

"I know." Shana said as she scooted away from Shannon.

Shannon fingered the scar that marked her left cheek.

"Does that hurt?" Shana asked. "Since I re-cut it?"

"No." Shannon said as the taxi stopped in front of a fancy restaurant. "Not as much as the pain in my chest." She replied as she got out.

Shana got out also. "C'mon." She said smiling. "We have to be happy or they will know that something is up."

"I'll tell them how you blew up a toaster trying to make cereal." Shannon replied laughing.

"It was an accident!" Shana said exasperated because Shannon wouldn't let that topic go. "It's getting old, Iz." She said as they walked up the steps to the restaurant. "Just let it go for the love of Pete."

Shannon kept laughing. "It's funny though, Skyye." She pointed out. "Besides I don't know Pete."

"I wonder if I'm going to get drenched in here too." Shana asked herself out loud, ignoring Shannon's lame joke.

"Maybe." Shannon said as they walked through the door.

"I hope it happens to you." Shana mumbled to herself.

~ An Hour Later ~

They were still at the restaurant. Laughing and enjoying the talking that they were all doing.

"So Skyye, Izzy." Mrs. Hanson started slowly. "My boys have told me what happened with your family. I'm so sorry to hear that."

Shannon smiled nervously at Mrs. Hanson and her eyes darted to Shana. "Thank you, Mrs. Hanson." She said politely.

Mr. Hanson put his arm around his wife. "We're both sorry to have heard what happened to you both."

Shannon just nodded her head slowly as she watched Mr. and Mrs. Hanson look down at their row of children who were all occupied in a conversation with some one else. She knew what the two parents were thinking of. 'What if our children lose us?'

Instantly feeling sick to her stomach Shannon had excused herself to get some fresh air, and to get away from what seemed to be the perfect family.

Shana watched her leave and after a few moments she felt it was safe enough for her to go after her and talk. Isaac, Taylor, and Zac followed with the okay of their parents.

Their parents took the rest of their kids in the minivan and left Isaac, Taylor, and Zac with Isaac's car.

~ Outside ~

"Shann, are you okay?" Shana asked as she watched Shannon walk around the tiny area. It was empty but there were small tables in a circle.

Shannon sat down on top of one of the tables. "Yeah, I'm okay. Just got a little warm in there." She said quietly.

Shana sat next to her. "'Tis okay, Shann. We both knew that this was going to be hell on our consciences." She comforted.

"I know. Sometimes I just wonder what's going to happen when we do get caught." Shannon said looking away for a moment. "Are we going to run away again?" She asked.

Sitting quietly for a second, Shana found her voice. "Yes." She said clearly. "When we get caught, we'll runaway and start all over again."

Shannon nodded. "Okay."

"Are you okay, Izzy?" Isaac asked as he and his brother's walked into the tiny in area also.

"Yeah. Just had to think about something. That's all." She said giving them a weak smile.

"So did you really blow up a toaster fixing cereal?" Zac asked as he sat next to Shana on the table.

Shana and Shannon laughed lightly. So did Taylor and Isaac.

"Yeah, I did." Shana confessed.

"Okay, you're never fixing anything for me." Taylor said smiling.

Shana smiled at him. "Is that a promise?" She asked hopefully.

Taylor nodded his head. "That's a promise."

"Good." Shana said looking at Shannon. "Now if only I can make that same promise with Izzy here then everything will be okay."

"And no more toasters would be sacrificed." Isaac added.

They all laughed again.

"C'mon we need to go home." Shannon said as she stood up. "Tomorrow is our last day in the studio. Then we start on our video." She said stretching.

Shana groaned. "I don't wanna do our video." She said out loud. Then she covered her mouth.

Isaac, Taylor, and Zac gave her weird looks while Shannike shot her a death look.

"Oops." Shana said sheepishly. "Pay no attention to me. I'm just babbling out loud and no one should listen."

Zac just nodded his head and continued to walk.

~ A Little While Later ~

"Thanks for the ride. We had a nice time. It was a great meal." Shannon said mechanically as she got out of Isaac's car.

Isaac gave her a strange look and Taylor got out so that Shana could.

"Thanks guys." Shana said smiling brightly.

"Hey, when you have some free time again let's do something." Zac suggested.

Shannon was about to decline the offer when Shana accepted it for them.

Isaac, Taylor, and Zac left happy and Shannon and Shana were left to talk about the events of that night and to plan their next runaway plan before they got caught and all hope be lost.
