When she heard laughter her eyes widened slightly in anger. "I'm sorry, what?" She asked in a tight voice as she tried to get her brain to work and comprehend the words that someone was telling her at that moment.
"Oh, hey. Yeah, okay. Um, uh, why? Sure. Yeah, Skyye and I will be down in a while." She stated as she forced herself to roll over and sit up straight in her bed.
"Yes, Casey. I do understand what you are telling me. Okay. Mmm, hmm. If you want me to get there sooner you'll hang up now." She said stretching her shoulders and arms. "Bye Casey. We'll see you in the studio." Shannon said as she hung up before Casey could continue talking to her.
"SHANA!!" She screamed frantically.
Shana came bouncing happily out of the bathroom. Her toothbrush was sticking out of her mouth, along with toothpaste and drool.
Shannon laughed at her sister. "We gotta go to the studio. Casey said that she wants us to try something."
Shana bobbed her head up and down and then wiped her mouth with the back of her hand. "Ew." She grimaced as she looked at her now disgusting hand, covered in toothpaste and her own saliva. "That was beyond raunchy."
"Bye, bye." Shannon said as she ran into the bathroom, slammed the door shut behind her, and locked the door quickly.
"HEY!" Shana shouted. She didn't move because she was still looking at the back of her hand. She went and knocked on the door with her one clean hand. Her mouth was still full of toothpaste, drool, and her toothbrush, and she was not about to swallow.
"What?" Shannon asked warily.
"I need to spit this out." Shana called to her. She had to swallow shortly.
"Use the balcony then to get rid of it. What's the use of having a balcony if we can't do stuff like that?" She asked through the door.
Shana was about to comment but she knew Shannon wouldn't have heard her, because she had already turned the shower on. She shrugged and went over to their balcony. Opening the door she walked out into the already warm day and leaned over the ledge. Peering over the side she let the toothpaste and spit just fall slowly out of her mouth.
It landed with a splat on the sidewalk below. She watched in amusement as someone stepped in it and then slipped and fell. She started laughing and raced back into the room. 'That just made my day all better.' She told herself smiling brightly as she walked into the mini kitchen to wash her hand and the rest of the toothpaste from her mouth.
"Skyye?" Casey called out.
"Yeah?" Shana asked warily. They were working on a re-mix of 'Let's Let Go' to sell over seas.
All because Casey thought that it would be a 'cool idea.' They were only going to re-do a few parts. But then another came up. And then another. Then surprise-surprise another came up.
"I think that you are done now." Casey said smiling. Then she looked over at Shannon. "Your turn, Izzy."
A few minutes later Shannon was singing into a microphone in the studio. "Why are we blind. Can we not see. Baby, you know it's not going to be." She sang out, watching Shana through the glass.
Shana smiled at her and she knew that they were thinking the same thing. 'We have our friendship, our music, and now are album. What else could we possibly need?'
Little did they know that they needed just a little bit more in their lives. And that was exactly what was going to come up for them.
Shana and Shannon were both singing now into the microphone now. "Let's let go, baby. Let's let go." They finished together harmoniously.
Shannon sighed softly in relief. That was one of the best times that they sang together. In perfect harmony and on the right notes. Now they should be done for the day.
Casey smiled proudly and dismissed them. Stating that they had it perfect now and that they were able to go out and play.
Shana and Shannon hurriedly went to pack their material before Casey decided to change her mind and re-work another part.
Running out onto the street Shannon and Shana collided right into another girl walking on the sidewalk. Shannon instantly started apologizing over and over again.
The girl just laughed and smiled at them both as she brushed herself off and picked up her c.d. "It's okay. Really it is. My c.d.'s not broke so I'm not angry or anything."
Shannon nodded her head. "So sorry, dude."
Shana started laughing at Shannon. "She understand that, Iz!" She shouted at her sister.
The girl laughed again. "It's really okay. I wasn't even paying attention to where I was going. I just came from getting Hanson's autograph on my c.d." She said sighing dreamily.
Shannon had to cover her mouth with her hand. She had to hide the smile that was forming on her lips and to stop the laugh that was bubbling up inside of her.
"Where?" Shana asked interested.
"At the record store two blocks that-a-way." She said pointing northward.
Shana nodded her head thoughtfully. "Wanna come with us?" She invited the girl.
Her eyes widened. "Seriously?"
Laughing, Shannon nodded. "By the way. I'm Izzy and this is my sister Skyye." She said motioning between Shana and herself.
The girl smiled happily. "I'm Christi." She said nodding her head at Shannon and Shana.
"It was nice bumping into you." Shana said smiling as they started walking northward towards the record studio where Hanson hopefully was.
Christi laughed also. "It was fun. But maybe next time we can just call out to each other, okay?"
Shannon nodded readily. "Sounds good to me."
As they started waling Christi started humming, an all too familiar beat. First she started off with 'Mmmbop,' then she moved onto 'Where's the Love,' and then she moved onto 'Madeline.'
Shana and Shannon hummed along with her. Then Christi smiled at them and started singing 'Let's Let Go.'
Shannon stopped her instantly, once she was over her shock. "When did you hear that song?" She asked both in shock and awe.
Christi grinned at her. "Are you serious? That songs been on all day today and half of yesterday. It was even on 'Jam it or Slam it' last night on Mix 96. And every vote said 'Jam it,' and they replayed it again."
Her smile widened when she saw Shannon look over at Shana in blank amazement. "It's this new group. They're supposed to be recording somewhere here in Hollywood."
Shana nodded her head slowly. Her smile was large and bright. "Yeah, we know. It's by Deciding Destiny right?"
Christi nodded her head readily. "So you know it?" She asked.
Shannon finally smiled in pure delight. "Know it? Girl, we wrote that song."
"We're DD. Deciding Destiny." Shana supplied.
Christi stopped dead in her tracks. "Nu, uh!" She said shaking her head in disbelief.
"Yes, huh." Shana said laughing at the shock on Christi's face.
"Oh my GOD!" Christi shouted loudly.
Shana and Shannon had to cover their ears from the little ear piercing scream Christi had let loose.
"Dang." Shannon mumbled laughing. After that Christi was a non-stop chatterbox. Asking Shana and Shannon to sing 'Let's Let Go' and a few other songs off their album that hadn't even been released yet. Talking all the way to the record store.
"Okay, thanks for showing us where this store was." Shana said hoping that Christi would go on her merry way now.
No such luck. When Christi left she came back a few minutes later with her friends and they signed sheets of paper that they had been writing on for their homework.
"I'm not turning this in now!" One replied happily.
"Oh, like you were going to in the first place." Christi stated rolling her eyes.
Shannon laughed quietly and pulled on Shana's arm. "We're gonna get Hanson's autograph now." She said as she quickly paid for two 'Middle of Nowhere' c.d.'s and stood in the ever-growing line in front of the table that Hanson sat at.
Shannon and Shana were finally at the front of the line. "Okay, who do I make this out to?" Isaac asked taking Shannon's c.d. without looking up at her. His head bent low looking at the picture of him and his brother's on the c.d.'s cover.
"How about to 'the girl whom I hit in the face with a soccer ball?'" Shannon asked laughing.
Isaac finally looked up at her. "See I can't do that. Cause if I did then I would have to sign that on everyone's." He stated smiling.
Shannon smiled back and then shrugged. "Okay then." She said grudgingly. "How about to 'a big fan?'"
Shaking his head, Isaac laughed and started scribbling on her c.d. cover. Then he passed it down to Taylor and Zac, each writing something on it while smiling.
Then Shana handed Isaac her c.d. "I just at least want your signature. I'm not as picky as Iz is." She said smiling. "Whatever else is up to y'all."
Isaac laughed and repeated the process he did for Shannon.
"Bye!" Shannon and Shana shouted to them laughing and waving wildly as they grabbed their c.d.'s and walking out of the record store. Somehow managing to escape Christi and her friends.
