"Mr. Traynor," Taylor started off slowly. He looked around the room nervously. He was more uncomfortable than nervous. It was just that being uncomfortable made him feel nervous... and out of place.
Hunter looked up at Taylor, then looked him over. "Taylor, I've noticed that you and Keesha spend quite a lot of time together."
Taylor's eyes quickly fixated on Hunter. They narrowed slightly as they stared at him. "Yes, sir." He responded tightly. He didn't think he was going to like what was going to be said next.
"Then you would know more about how she feels." Hunter said tiredly as he rubbed his forehead where a headache was starting to form.
"Keesha would know more than I would, sir." Taylor replied.
Hunter looked up at him again. His tired eyes were staring to bloodshot and half-violet moons were forming under them. "Taylor, I am an old man. I haven't seen my daughter in over two years," He started off.
"Whoa, whoa, wait a minute." Taylor stated as he held up his hand for him to stop talking.
"What?" Hunter asked curiously.
"Keesha has been deaf for six years now, sir. How could you have seen her only two years ago and not have her know?" Taylor asked as he stared down at the man before him.
Hunter stared at Taylor in deep confusion. "No, Taylor." He said slowly, unsure of the boy's mental stability. "Keesha has been deaf for all of the years of her life. I left here after she was taken to the hospital, two years ago, after she almost died."
Taylor just stared at him. "Mr. Traynor," He started slowly again. "I don't think someone has been telling the truth to Keesha."
"What do you mean?" Hunter asked quickly as he stood up and walked over to Taylor, his eyes cold as ice.
He swallowed with difficulty, "Sir, Keesha, and my brothers and I were told that she went deaf six years ago."
Silence filled the room as Hunter carefully eyed Taylor as if to make there wasn't a hint of suspicion of him telling the truth.
"Sir, we were told that you were doing drugs." Taylor added quietly.
Anger sparked in Hunter's eyes as he stared at him now. But his anger was not at Taylor but at the person who spread these nasty lies about himself. And he had a very good idea who it was.
"And sir," Taylor continued weakly, pain twisting his features. "We were told that you had beat Keesha and that is how she had became deaf."
Hunter's face paled drastically as he took in this news. "Who told you all this?" He asked in a choked whisper.
Taylor looked away.
"Who?" Hunter pleaded.
Taylor turned back to face Hunter and stared into his eyes unfazed by the hurt and anger that he saw. "Asia." He said it quietly and simply.
"No." Hunter whispered. "No." His suspicions were confirmed.
